Yahari Analysis focused on feelings & thoughts of characters in the bonus track of Drama cd v7, the after party after the school cultural festival in ln v6.
Let me tell you about drama cd v7 first. This is the third drama cd of Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru., titiled Kanojotachi no, We will Rock You (彼女たちの、うぃー・うぃる・ろっく・ゆー♡), subtitled with “We will… We will rock “you”!!”
Although the bonus track is the short moment when Hikigaya Hachiman (比企谷 八幡) and co. celebrated after they worked hard during the festival, I think there are many moments each character showed her/his feelings that related to her/himself and the festival that ended in the same day. And I really think it’s important, because this event will connect with what happened in ln v7-8 too (especially a certain woman I wrote analysis about her and Hachiman that happened in the donut cafe.

Hachiman’s Monologue – his regret
Start with his monologue (thinking about the after party). He tried to find many excuses to convince himself it’s all right he didn’t go to the party as Hayama Hayato (葉山 隼人)‘s invitation to come to this event. But when Hachiman told himself over and over he will not go, I feel he felt sad he was forced by the society’s punishment because everyone misunderstood that he bullied Sagami Minami (相模 南) previously. So there’s no any place for him while everyone were celebrating.
Yuigahama’s effort – seach for good merit
When Yuigahama Yui (由比ヶ浜 結衣) invited him and Yukinoshita Yukino (雪ノ下 雪乃) to go to the after party, both of them rejected. Even Yukino was not fond of event like this. However, she told Yuigahama if she has some good merit, maybe they might consider about it. So Yuigahama did as her friend adviced, but Hachiman and Yukino slashed them easily.
But when Yuigahama said she would be happy if they go, Yukino accepted her invitation. However he can’t go with them, so he decided to go home, because he can’t bear to see Yuigahama’s disappointment toward him anymore.
ps. In the first topic (Hachiman’s Monologue) above, I think when he was thinking good reasons he didn’t go to that party, it would happen after he left from the club room.
Yukino’s word – edit this bad ending
But when Hachiman told the ending already, Yuigahama shouted how it ended like this. However, Yukino said…
“Giving up is a bad habit.”
Ps. I will explain about her words later.
Yuigahama is the mastermind – she really is not a nice girl.
Hachiman was disappointed his sister, Hikigaya Komachi (比企谷 小町) didn’t prepare dinner yet, because she thought he would eat at the party. While they were talking, there’s a call from Yuigahama (via Komachi’s phone (when they exchanged their numbers?)). It seems she told something that made Komachi (after ended call) texted to someone quickly. And then, she invited her brother to eat outside together.
When both of them arrived somewhere near his school, his homeroom teacher, Hiratsuka Shizuka (平塚 静), met them. Follow with Yuigahama and Yukino (? So they told his sister to meet there. And Komachi texted sensei to meet there too). It means Yuigahama or/and Yukino planned this from the beginning, by us…, I mean convincing his sister to lu.., no, drag him.
After that, Hachiman’s friend, Totsuka Saika (戸塚 彩加), who Yuigahama invited him on the way. It seems he was invited to go to the after party too.
Follow with Hachiman’s friend (?), Zaimokuza Yoshiteru (材木座 義輝) who appeared suddenly. Although he didn’t tell who invited him, Hachiman would know who invited Zaimokuza, because he asked his sister why she invited these people.
Hachiman grumbled he wanted to stay at home, Yuigahama told him to stop complaining. Plus with Yukino told him to give up because even she (Yukino) intended to go the after party with Yuigahama just a moment, then go home, but she gave up to do that already. With Yukino’s confession, now I can find who is the mastermind. If Yukino told she gave up, it means Yuigahama was the one planned all of these (except Zaimokuza because Komachi was the one who texted him (so she got sensei and his numbers?) Now I realized how Yuigahama can be sly.
I told that I will explain Yukino’s words above. So I will explain here. When Yuigahama moaned previously, I think it’s Yukino who told her to not give up. That’s why Yuigahama used her connection to drag him so she can have fun with him and Yukino. I think she also got the idea that if he can’t go to the after party, then just arrange another party so he can’t find any excuse. I also notice when he grumbled, it’s her who told him to stop, because she was the one who made him can’t stay at home. Complaint from him is not what she wanted to hear.
Hiratsuka-sensei’s connection – one of life style of her and “that person”.
Although everyone gathered there, it seems they didn’t decide where to set the party yet. And there are few places that they don’t need to meet many people. Hiratsuka-sensei had some idea that “that person” would know those places, so she left to call her/him.
After calling, she told everyone to go the place near the train station that she reserved already. So it means she might know this place too, or she got contact info from that person, so she reserved after told with that person.
Haruno’s position – unknown
When Hiratsuka-sensei and others arrived the place for the party, she met with someone and apologized her (?) but that woman replied it’s all right. When others came to the room sensei reserved, the one who talk with sensei earlier is Yukino’s older sister, Yukinoshita Haruno (雪ノ下 陽乃).
Then it means the person sensei called to ask suitable places for the party, was Haruno. I think sensei would invite her too (it’s very weird to not ask her since they are friends, sensei got help finding where to set party, and Haruno helped in the Cultural Festival too.
If you already read Oregairu Analysis – “LOVE Plan ♥” of Hayama Hayato During The Cultural Festival? The Time to Reveal This Has Come! (The Last Part), you would read my assumpsions how hayama blend with the name of “his clique” to set the after party but used this occasion to invite “other people”, not just his classmates, so he can meet his crush one more time. I suspect he would not invite her by himself, but let others invite her instead by using some good excuse everyone worked hard so they can come or something like that (but Hachiman used all energy the most but can’t come?).
Actually, I don’t know where Haruno was when Shizuka-chan called her. But her arrival made me know she didn’t go home yet. And the truth that she was waiting for everyone in the party place (near the train station) already, it means she was near with this place more than others (that were near the school).
I know from ln v10 (anime zoku ep10) that she asked Hachiman to walk with her to the train station, so it means the distance between school and the train station is not far, but even so Haruno managed to arrive before everyone.
Although Haruno’s feeling toward Hayama will not convince her to go to the after party of Hayama, and she already said to her little sister she will go back home (ln v6, anime season 1 ep 12 ), it doesn’t mean she will really do it for real. Because from how her mother did to her, if there’s good excuse she doesn’t need go straight to her home where her mother lives, she wouldn’t go home. And from her profile in ln v6, it said she always hangs out outside when it’s day off. So it’s high possible that she still hangs out with others in Hayama’s party.

Although Haruno told how she must do as her mother says, it seems she hid her suffering at the same time. So if you want to know about her suffering, you can read more in Oregairu Analysis – 3rd Memorandum: If so, just whose monologue was it?, that it seems her despair is worse when the story reached v10.
Well, wherever she was, when she knew from Shizuka-chan she and others will set small party, I think Haruno would want to go. I don’t know she analyzed who will be there, but consider her high intelligence, she would know Hachiman who was not allowed to come to Hayama’s party, would be there too. And I don’t know her friend told her who will go to another place, but Haruno would know there are more other people there too, and if she can’t find her sister in the after party or she still hangs out somewhere, at least she can expect Yukino will go too (I judges from the moment when Yukino and Hachiman came to the room, it seems Haruno was not surprised at all. That is why I assumed she expected to hang out with her friend, her sister and the one she lo-, I mean the one she is fond of.
That’s why Haruno chose to go to the second after party with lighting speed. Although her position before her friend called her, is still unknown.
When I am writing this analysis, I notice actions of Haruno and Hayama are not different when it’s about meeting the one they interest.
- Hayama’s case – in my analysis, the love plan of Hayama (the last part), I assumed how Hayama tried his best in many ways to make his crush impress in him or even planned to make him can has more interaction with his crush (such as work in the position that is related to the section his crush was working , play the same performance she ever played, helped Yukino and everyone to find Sagami).
- Haruno’s case – I will explain many clues that make me suspect her feelings toward Hachiman. I can say for now that her arrival in the small after party is just the one clue only.
Although I said their actions are similar, but when it comes to this party, it’s clear that she showed her affection to the one she interests, more than Hayama who was the ninja, blend with the environment around him.
Although both of them are mysterious in terms of their intentions and feelings, I think they are normal boy and woman, who want to spend time together with the one they like, always think of their crush, not different from other people in the reality world.
Yukinoshita sisters’s power – snow & sun
When Yukino came into the room her sensei reserved, I think she can’t believe her older sister appeared in front of her again. Although I wrote about the less space between these sisters in Oregairu Analysis – “After” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino. (The Last Part), but I think she likes to live in comfort zone (who will not like it, right?). I mean, when people around her acknowledged in her effort after Hachiman destroyed the unfair world Sagami caused it, her “pusing Haruno away” was held to the level that she just push her sister away becsuse she just was annoyed only.
But before she will walk into the room, I think she expected to stay with everyone (exclude her big sister) only. I mean, she fixed the stable zone and didn’t expect her sister will come. So when she saw her older sister, the meddlesome sister who will do whatever she wants and is capable in shaking her fixed dimension, she didn’t trust her sister will meddle in front of her (Yukino’s) acquaintances to the point she (Yukino) will burn. I think at first she just suspected why she (Haruno) was there too. But when her big sister replied Shizuka-chan invited her, I think Yukino’s curious became the unsatisfaction instead. Since it seems she has magical power, she casted ice magic, Absolute Zero to her target.
She would not aware everyone became snowmen already.
For Haruno, who is super delighted because of her secret plan to help her sister during the festival, successful. And she witnessed the change in Yukino with her own eyes, also they had fun time together in music performance. It’s like triple happiness for her. And now Shizuka-chan gave her the fourth blessing when she called her. I can imagine she can’t wait to continue the happy time with her sister.
But her cheerfulness was frozen by AZ of Yukino-chan. I think she felt uncomfortable in eyes of death of Yukino-chan (and you ever laughed at Hachiman because he ever thought her little sister is scary during the firework festival!! (ln v5, anime ss1 ep9)). So Haruno casted fire magic, Sunlight to lessen AZ or to protect herself from the pressure.
Finally, Yukino who would know she can’t keep cast AZ continuously while others watching, or she herself knew it’s useless to stop Haruno who got meddlesome trademark. So she gave up.
Zaimokuza’s happiness – angel’s aura
From ln v4 (Yahahi anime ss1 ep8), Haruno met with Komachi and Totsuka already, but they never talk yet, so both of them who are younger, greeted her and she replied like she is kind sister. But when Zaimokuza appeared and introduced himself in …his own style, she said like she felt “impressed” in him. Her max cheerful mask made him retreat to Hachiman because he was too happy to meet an angel. But Hachiman pulled him to the cruel reality.
I agree with Hachiman because in Haruno’s point of view, when she saw Zaimokuza appeared so suddenly and acted like a weirdo, she was not different from other girls, felt like she wanted to go away. But I think she knew how to make men retreat, by activating “Angel’s Aura”. Her maximum bright will repel any creepy from her instantly. Any men who bathed this light, will misunderstand she is nice to them, and retreat to somewhere so they can keep this too good memory in their mind forever. I think she got this experience from the high social, where she needed survive, to deal with men who approached her.
Hachiman’s jealous – give his sister back!
Komachi who always search for candidates who will be girlfriend of her brother, included Haruno and Kawasaki Saki (川崎 沙希) to the list. I don’t know she just acted cute, but she said she wants Haruno to be her sister (maybe she wanted to say indirectly because to be her sister = girlfriend of her brother). I don’t know Haruno knew the hidden meaning in Komachi’s words or not, but she started imagine how it will be if Komachi is her second sister, and pull her in her arms like teddy bear.
When hachiman watched both of them were close, he felt jealous because Haruno took his precious sister, so he told Haruno to stop this.
Haruno surrendered so easily but offered another idea (make a move on him instead). I think she would know well that he wouldn’t take her joke seriously, so she can “plead” him because it’s safe to say “what’s on her mind”.
Like this moment.
Haruno’s chance!! – Ahhhhh~
it seems Hachiman didn’t eat much so Haruno who noticed this, took this chance by helping him (Ahhhhh~). He was embarrassed in her service, so he refused. But she picked good reasons (he worked hard so he deserved this) and still give him a bite (I mean, food). For my own opinion, I think she wanted to do something for him, just like a girl who wants to take care of the boy she likes.
But her doki service was interrupted by 2YY. Yukino (who admires him because she believed he saved her and everyone) told her big sister to not pamper him (tl: Don’t tease him), and Yuigahama who heard Yukino’s words, supported her immediately because when she saw Haruno was giving him service, it’s normal she felt jealous but she can’t say it loudly. Haruno who listened to Yuigahama’s words, would sense her feeling so easily. Even Komachi was satisfied in this development and teased Yuigahama.
Hiratsuka’s complaints – along with “his” and “her” complaints.
While they were talking about the party and wine-fes, Hiratsuka-sensei murmured something that made Hachiman surprised. So she escaped to her drink, but her drink is like the microphone. Haruno tried to comfort with her cheerfulness, but it seems her voice can’t reach her friend. Hachiman got negative wave from his sensei, complaint with her too.
It seems no one can stop sensei from spreading negative energy, so Haruno who would get effected, gave up to stop her, and also complainted. I think she understood suffering of her friend very well, because she was another one who vent like sensei and Hachiman. I notice sensei made her remind of her harsh life.
Hachiman’s hobby – it’s totally normal.
To recover everyone’s spirit, Haruno suggested playing games!! Sensei voted for Ousama game, that made two boys (Hachiman & Zaimokuza imagined how it will be if boys and girls play this game). But sensei’s idea was dropped. They decided to play Sobu-line game instead.
According to this game’s rules, they must answer their own favorite hobby. So when Hachiman answered his fav hobby, he made everyone were worried about him (even Haruno, even Haruno!).
Girls’s worry – in Hachiman’s hobby
There are two girls who were worried about his life (his hobby made them worried). Komachi wanted him to stave off loneliness, and Haruno thought his hobby is a bit off and wanted him to has other hobby. This scene made sensei surprised in her courteous and politeness. Haruno said her friend was so mean. Then her sister agreed with sensei, that made Haruno grumbled. She stated she was worried about him, that made Yukino was surprised but thought her older sister was joking. I think even Yukino wondered why her sister was so worried about him, but I assume she never imagine Haruno was fond of him, that’s why she came to the conclusion that her sister would be joking (consider from “her sister is meddlesome).
When Haruno heard her younger sister thought she was kidding. She contradicted she was not, she just was so worried he will be a loner so it’s better to has some hobby (so she didn’t consider his hobby – human observation as hobby). I notice she felt like that to him for real, because when she repeated this over and over, It’s the first time she showed “the same feeling continuously”.
But her wish well made him felt annoyed. I think he didn’t understand why she meddled with his personal life so much.
Combo attack from Yukinoshita sisters – I feel sorry for Hachiman.
Zaimokuza suggested another hobby, the survival game. Sensei explained about this game to Yukino who didn’t know about it. When she understood this game, she teased Hachiman he was suitable to be the sniper (Black). Haruno took the second shot, that he wouldn’t gather people enough to make a team anyway, so giving him false hope is bad (Black). Hachiman who got double damage from black and black by Yukinoshita sisters, grumbled.
I think they just want to tease him. But how to tease him of Haruno is creative and destructive at the same time, I mean, look how she disagreed with her little sister, but the damage in her words went to him like a curve ball. This is my opinion, but Yukinoshita sisters duo shot him in combo until he was KO. Snow sisters team wins!! Well, it’s like this is the survival game.
Wrong pics again.
Totsuka’ s curious – made girls are curious too.
Totsuka wanted to know more about Hachiman, so she, no he, asked him what he usually do at home. I think he didn’t mind to tell Totsuka but it’s very awkward to reveal his personal info in front of others.
Haruno who also wanted to know it too, but she would notice his indecision and figure it out that he can’t say it, so she switched on Komachi, the Hachiman guru instead. Yuigahama followed this, sensei also interested. I think Haruno and Yuigahama who have feelings for him, would want to know everything about him, include what he always do at home. For Hiratsuka-sensei, I think she just wanted to know more about him as her favorite student only. Anyway, their interest made Komachi gathered memories about his dairy life. Her brother knew in advance his sister was going to be the megaphone, so he tried to stop her, but Komachi already switched on.
His sister who always wishes well to her brother, would be glad there are people were interested in her brother, so she revealed his in-depth personal info without any hesitation. Actually, I feel sorry for Hachiman. His sister just wishes well for him, but his mind right now would be wiped out because this didn’t happen by his own will. I don’t know you will understand his feeling or not, but when you are with anyone who is close to you and about your private life very well, when that person tells your personal life to others while you are listening too, it’s not different from being naked in front of society. That’s why Komachi’s good will becomes the backfire on him despite her good intention.
And as usual, Yukino found another chance to tease him, but this time he countered. He pointed she also has no friend and read books, when she heard him, she tried to refuse but his words made a certain meddlesome sister. When Yukino heard Haruno’s soft laugh, she realized what will happen so she tried to stop her big sister (she might not know, but she opened a chance for her meddlesome sister, maybe it’s because she spent time in the party too long until she forgot who was with her), but when “the meddling mode” in Haruno activated, no one even her younger sister can stop her. Siscon bragged her sister ever played piano in front of people. This info made others impressed in her. But the second shot followed, Haruno revealed how her sister spent time in her room.
I think Haruno sees her Yukino as the adorable sister, so she just wanted to tell others about memories she will never forget so they will realize how adorable and cuteness her sister is. But Yukino was shot with adorable bullets that made her felt so embarrassed. Even Yuigahama noticed the mental state of her friend. But Yukino would has high spirit, she can maintain herself that surprised Hachiman. He can’t believe how she can stay still even if she would got mental damage more than him. That made me think Haruno and Komachi are not different. What is different between them is one is brocon, another is siscon.
Haruno’s imagine – how to spend time together ♥.
After Inuneko fight has ended, Haruno still thinks about Hachiman’s hobby. When she thought about this again, she started to think it’s decent and rare hobby (so you can accept this?). Come to think of it, I notice she was the only one who still interests things about him attentively, to the point everyone forgot, but she still review one of his life. I think Hayama is right when he told Hachiman she seems to be fond of him (LN v8, anime season 2 ep3).
Return to Haruno, she voted for car or motorbike, but Hachiman can’t do these yet (he is still a highschooler), that she also agreed. So she suggested photography or music!
To this point, I observed Haruno’s thoughts about this issue. I notice she might not know this herself, but right now she was looking for any activities that has some link with “things she likes” and “how she spends her days off”, her own activities. These two issues are topics that everyone told earlier. If you already read her profile in LN v6, you would know how she spends her days off, “aimlessly traveling”. I will connect them so you can see it easier.

music ⇔ her musicianship
Maybe if you also try to give him some idea about hobbies, you would search things nearby, such as your own hobbies/activities (like when Hiratsuka-sensei said fishing or Zaimokuza said the survival game). So this can be the coincidence only too. But I will let you imagine. After gather her thoughts about his new hobbies that must have some connection with her own hobbies, imagine how it will be if she is imagine…
- Hachiman will be her driver (imagine when they ride motorbike and she takes the backseat and h**s him from behind).
- or he will take her photograph when they are traveling (and imagine when they take their photograph).
- or she was imagine how it will be if she and him will play music together.
…It’s like activities couple will do together (different from sensei’s and Zaimokuza’s because they suggested as “friends”).
Could it be this is an unbelievable hint that connects with their lives in the future!?
Hiratsuka’s carefulness – until a certain girl interrupted.
Hachiman told “horror” story regard a guitar in their house that let us know how he played it but it’s too difficult to practice some chord, so he gave up. Yukino like always, took this chance to tease him again. But it turned her words caused unexpected mental damage to him instead (he thought it’s his character that made him can’t find other hobby). Hiratsuka-sensei can’t stand this, and taught him to not hurry or force himself to find what he wants to do. I notice when he said how pointless to play guitar in order to be cool, she understood things he hates, so she told him to not walk in the same wrong path that he dislikes. Her words made him realize how much her carefulness for him.
This moment feels warm, or too warm until Haruno who would feel the warmth from her friend as well but can’t receive overwhelming sunlight (maybe she is the sun herself) anymore, decided to stop her friend by teasing her about playing bass. This caused her friend stop teaching a precious lesson to him. But their conversation made a new topic.
Haruno’s hidden wish – for people she is fond of.
While they were talking about the performance earlier, it appears that Hikigaya siblings and Zaimokuza didn’t watch the concert five girls played (Hachiman just watched the ending). Komachi wanted to watch Yukino and Yuigahama perform, Haruno who heard Komachi, also wanted to see her sister play again too (but Yukino refused). Hachiman said he didn’t watch the whole play. Sensei said they would not have a chance to perform the song anyway. But she didn’t know who can solve this. Haruno told her it’s all right, that made her friend and Yuigahama were curious what she meant.
Haruno’s happiness & gratitude – she will rock him.
Haruno lead everyone to the live house that Hayama’s clique arranged the after party (so it means if my assumptions about he arranged this party just he can spend time with her again, is true, it means she really came to the live house, but she came when him and everyone already went home, poor guy). At first everyone (Hiratsuka’s group) didn’t get why they need to come here. It seems she specially request staffs here to leave the stage for her, she said they can pick any musical instruments they want to play in here (I think she ever came to have fun in this place many times and because of her charisma, she has “connection” with staffs here or something like that, so she can ask them to use this place (I don’t really know when she contacted them).
Anyway, it seems she wanted girls played the performance again. Hiratsuka-sensei responded her without any question, but Yukino didn’t go along with her. She didn’t get why she needed to play. So Haruno, who knows about her sister very well, knows how to make her sister change her mind. She provoked her little sister by teasing Yukino would be too shy to play song in front of Hachiman. Yukino, who will “switch on” everytime she thinks other people doubt her, was annoyed and wanted to prove it’s not like her big sister thinks, so she decided to play, as her Onee-san plans her little sister will fall into her trap.
Actually, the underlined words above has some connection with Haruno’s unusal action in LN v10.
In anime ss2 ep10, she can summon her little sister so easily despite Yukino doesn’t want. I will tell you that this big sis knows the truth behind the embarassing feeling of Yukino so she can make her perform the song (in this Drama CD) and even summon her (in v10). I hope I will update about this issue in the future.
With Haruno’s leadership and selfishness, it seems almost girls will prepare for the show. I think she would arrange everything because many reasons, but the main reason is she heard Hachiman didn’t has a chance to see her show. Why that? I ever mentioned that she knows he did hard work more than anyone, and she was appreciated in what he sacrificed for everyone and the festival, and her secret plan to change Yukino was successful because of him. So she prepared this stage so she can give him the gratitude, and he will watch her show off!! Come to think of it her doing is the same as Hayama’s. To make the one they interest watch them, they will show their skills/efforts, so the one they like will impress in them. The mix feelings made Haruno can provide everything, all for this show.
But I will not say other reasons why she did this are not important. I also think she wanted to play music with her sister and her friend again. And she heard earlier that some people didn’t watch their show.
Let her and do her best.
