All truths that was hidden in the story after Hayama Hayato (葉山 隼人) showed his bravery just to make Yukinoshita Haruno (雪ノ下 陽乃) interest in him and other purposes by confronting Orimoto Kaori and Nakamachi Chika (仲町 千佳) who bullied Hikigaya Hachiman (比企谷 八幡), during the double date in LN v8, were revealed, here! This Oregairu analysis will reveal what “another problem” of Hayama was, and how he solved it. This is “the second part” of the whole conclusion.
This post is Oregairu/ Yahari analysis that concluded how [his multidimensional plan] & [operation Fire Doughnut] of Haruno (that started during the donut cafe’s incident & still continue until now) had ended.
In case you didn’t read her operation & his plan yet, I recommend you to read these two series before read this analysis. So you will not be confused in what I wrote here.
Haruno Launched OPERATION Fire Doughnut
Part 1 – when Haruno met Hachiman in the donut cafe, explained how she felt toward her little sister, although she saw Yukino’s change in the school cultural festival.
Part 2 – explained the raging fire of jealous in Haruno’s mind after she heard “unbelievable info” from his former classmate, Orimoto Kaori (折本 かおり).
Part 3 – with what happened in part 2, this explained how she started her operation, and she “needed” Hayama.
Part 4 – explained how she forced convince Hachiman so he will go to Hayama’s date group.
Part 5 – when she met Hachiman again, before the double date, her “misunderstanding” revealed what she always wants.
The truths behind Hayato’s sacrifice for Hachiman.
Part 1 – explained about the hope & despair of Hayama when he got call from haruno to come to the donut cafe, but it appeared he must go have fun with unknown girls. Along with the jealous & inferior complex toward Hachiman.
Part 2 – his plan started when he invited Hachiman to the date. This part revealed how he “lured” Haruno & his love rival to his secret plan.
Part 3 – revealed how he used people to tortu** his love rival during the date. Along with his feelings when we watched Hachiman suffered.
And before you will read this part 2, please read the first part of the conclusion after you finish reading Haruno’s operation and Hayama’s plan.
I strongly recommend you to read LN v8. And manga -Monologue- v7 will help you see the scenes about what happened in double date. Manga Monologue is consistent with the story in LN. Anime Zoku, ss2 of Oregairu, is good, but many important scenes & conversations were cut or modified.

Before I will start.
Before you will reach this part 2, let me mention part 1 first, I explained how Hayama let Haruno witness the situation that he created during shopping [those two girls bullied Hachiman], before he showed how cool he was, stopped them from doing that. Before he will confront them more than that, he calculated “the minute” Yukinoshita Yukino (雪ノ下 雪乃) and Yuigahama Yui (由比ヶ浜 結衣) will reach the floor where he waited.
The moment every characters were ready, he launched his fake lim*t bre@k, The Light of Hero” to Orimoto and Nakamachi (especially, in front of Haruno because he wanted her to admire him instead of the guy beside him, just like when she was so pleased after Hachiman destroyed the policy of Sagami Minami (相模 南)).
The fair trade (or not). In order to make him shine the most, he sacrificed those girls and Hachiman to play the roles they never know and never want to take (villians and victims). While Yukino and Yuigahama were stunning from his action but he got the supporting characters (Hayama used their existence so he can endure his own trauma (that happened in the past) so he can act as the brave hero confront villians smoothly. And if Orimoto or Nakamachi will argue to him, he had more allies than their side. After Orimoto and Nakamachi got the light of hero, they had no choice but left. That is how he sacrificed them.
And for Hachiman, as I wrote, he was presented by Hayama as the victim even if he was the one who threw this unwanted role at the first place. So although he acted like he dislikes the actions of those two girls, he again was the one who expanded their bad habits before the date will begin, so Haruno will see the situation clearly just one glance.
So his supreme epic show that is one part (yes, part) of the multidimensional plan almost reaches the ending. He can act as the brave knight in front of his crush successfully. All of these for making Haruno interest in him instead of Hachiman and stopping her eternal hatred because his little mistake in the past about [he didn’t help her sister]. Therefore, while he played his role, he can crush the guy he hates the most secretly (in Hayama’s thought) by forcing Hachiman to be the victim. Come to of it, stabbing the one who steals her heart at his back in front of her while Hachiman didn’t aware, will increase the pleasure of the one who did it too. I assume his mental state like this because he showed his “true feeling” while he noticed his love rival tried to endure suffering, after he watched those girls torture Hachiman during shopping.

So it’s time to continue the next phase of the conclusion of the cold war but can burn you if you are too close. After he succeed in his opera show his multidimensional plan almost reached the ending he is waiting for. Unfortunately, he has “another problem” I mentioned many times to solve first. And we must not forget his supporting characters are still there.

Friday The cafe
what is “another problem”?
At this point, I will explain what another problem of Hayama is. Do you remember when Yukino and Yuigahama came there to discuss about the student council president election? This is another problem of Hayama. The next question is why is this a problem?
Actually, I never notice before why he appointed them to discuss about the election even if he was so busy in double date, let alone her older sister, Haruno was there too. But this event hid the impotant truths. So I tried looking for the assumption that answers everything in this situation that seem it is not weird. When I found why he made them come to the cafe + his true nature + the connection of the two different story. Finally I realized his hidden intentions. And I got headache after why ww tried his best to present Hayama via Hachiman about he is the perfect guy. And got headache over headache how complex his multidimensional plan. Maybe this is why I called his secret plan like this.
Why did Hayama appointed Yukino and Yuigahama during the double date?
I found two reasons why he decided to make them come to the cafe.
- To clear this another problem.
- To cover something from “someone”.
- To pull them to his own epic show.
Actually, if you read to this point, you would know about their roles as the supporting characters of his supreme epic drama. So the two reasons 1 & 2 will be analyzed next.
1) To clear this another problem.
Since searching for the truths of this situation is very difficult. So I need to return to the timeline in ln v8, after he got dumped (yes, I mean it) secretly Haruno after he got her judgment – fiery doughnut ring (was forced to go have fun with strangers) during the donut cafe incident first.
(In anime, the conversation between him and her that showed how Haruno dumped him and didn’t care how he felt, didn’t appear.)
As I wrote earlier that after Hayama received Haruno’s punishment in this donut cafe, his suffering from her and the hatred that happened again after witnessed how different she reacted with him and his love rival. So he decied to do something for many reasons, for his own selfish purposes only. I will pin the day haruno forced him to have a date with those two girls, happened before the day he realized that Yukino and Yuigahama was going to bring a big trouble to him. Yes, both of them are the one who brought another problem to him. They went to the cafe to convince him to participate the election.
(I will explain why I think Hayama their request is problem for him later.)
And I will return to when Yukino, Yuigahama, Hachiman and Isshiki Iroha (一色いろは) were discussing how to solve Isshiki’s problem (was bullied by her classmates to participate the student council president election). Yukino insisted solving this by searching for suitable people to be the president and make her/him win this election.
I will pin it again that this scene happened in evening of Tuesday.
After the incident in the donut cafe, but before Hayama asked Hachiman to join the date.

I will tell more that the last two scenes happened in the same week, because Hachiman himself told a hint in ln v8 c5 that…
A few days passed since the day I talked with Yukino & co. in the club room.
With this hint, I sorted scenes in timeline like this.
- Tuesday (evening) : the meeting to solve Isshiki’s problem.
- ⇒ Wednesday : Yukino and/or Yuigahama contacted to Hayama to discuss about the election.
- ⇒ Thursday : Hayama invited Hachiman to join the date.
- Friday : Double date (new schedule). Haruno rearranged the schedule for Hachiman’s convenience.
- Saturday : Double date (original schedule).
Ps. ⇒ means the event that was not informed in ln about the day when it happened.
In Tuesday, Yukino insisted to find out new candidate, but the cutoff for participating the election is Monday two weeks from the day she and co. are discussing. So if they didn’t include the weekends and this Tuesday, they had not much time.
So I assumed that she and Yuigahama need to convince people who are suitable to be the scp as soon as possible. That’s why they needed to start this hunt job in the next day, Wednesday. The question is they targeted Hayama in this day or not is still questionable. But if she and Yuigahama think the suitable people, they needed to contact their acquaintances who have quality first. So after filter the name list, the first one should be Hayama Hayato. I notice that if they didn’t include themselves (Hachiman can’t be in the list since Yukino that time was angry in his action in previous incident and he himself dislikes hard work, let alone he lacks charisma in the point of view of most people, and Sagami is not skillful when we are talking about heavy duty like scp.) So I thought Yukino and Yuigahama would try to contact to Hayama, who would be the first choice in the list. (Personally, I think Ebina Hina (海老名 姫菜) has leadership as the super producer in the class show during the cultural festival) If I included Hayama, Miura Yumiko (三浦 優美子) and ebina, I think Yukino and Yuigahama would pick the most possible and the best choice first.
I don’t know which Y or both YY contacted him about this. But this is the starting point of big problem of Hayama. Because he will answer any expectations that is beautiful phase but it means he can’t refuse because his own trauma from the past that made him lack courage to deny people’s expectations because he would be scared in people’s reaction/change if he did that.
I assume that he wanted to refuse this but can’t do it clearly because he showed “how he refused” many times. As I can remember, it’s three times.
- In ln v6 (anime ss1 ep10, manga -Monologue- v??), when ebina the director decided he and Hachiman must take HayaxHachi they never want. He waited Hachiman to say some excuse so he can take the flow.
- In ln v6 only, when Sagami invited everyone to have something to eat, he and Yuigahama who can’t disagree her expectation, wait for Yukino and Hachiman to decline her offer first, before Yuigahama can find reasonable choice to refuse. After he heard her excuse, he took the flow so he didn’t need to find his own excuse in order to decline her expectation.
- In ln v7, he was asked by Tobe Kakeru (戸部 翔) to help him confess his feeling to his crush, ebina. But he took Tobe to the service club instead. If you reviewed the whole story, it appeared that he didn’t want Tobe to confess. So he hoped that members in the service club (especially, Hachiman and Yukino) will refuse Tobe’s request instead of him (he can’t deny the request from his friend by himself, or else Tobe might hate him). You can see Hayama invited his friend to go back after Tobe got icy and fiery judgment from 2YY because he looked down on Hachiman and refused him to help. But Hayama effort to stop Tobe’s desire innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndirectly, didn’t work. And Yuigahama help stopping his tiny hope by convincing Yukino that bring the result they accepted Tobe’s request. That’s why he ended up helping his friend.
So I assumed that he knows 2YY will do their best to make him decide to participate. But with his trauma, he who can’t resist powerp*** girls will end up to be scp although he doesn’t want for sure.
So if 2YY contacted him in Wednesday, I think he must invite Hachiman in Thursday only because although it’s possible he can invite his love rival in Wednesday, I think need time to modify his secret plan version 1 so he needed to solve this problem too. The scenes in the cafe in ep4 proved that he brought this problem so it will be solved. Although I know he is super brilliant regard solving everything so he can survive, but I still think he needed some private time to adapt his plan because hemust let that person see this problem so it will be vanish.
I almost forgot how he can find the way to stop the problem 2YY will be going to make him solve mission of service club. I don’t know he knew this is Isshiki’s problem or not, but the one who brought this problem to him are 2YY. Actually, I don’t know about his thought process, but I see how he can use other people to solve problems for him or instead of him. But I can say that he at that time, was thinking a secret plan that Hachiman, Haruno, Orimoto and Nakasomething are charcters for his own multidimensional plan. So I will let you choose which characters is the most suitable choice for stopping the one who is the main lead of this problem, Yukino.
And yes, I don’t know Hayama knows or not which YY intends to convince him to participate scp, but the president of the volunteer service club is Yukino. So if he can stop her completely, he didn’t need to worry about Yuigahama much. Imagine how cold if Yuigahama stands near the cold war between snow sisters. I bet if he appoints them to meet with Haruno smoothly, I think if you already read ln v8, anime ss2 ep4, manga -Monologue-, you would know the result already.
So this is the reason Hayama appoint 2YY to clear another problem. But this just the main advantage only. Another advantage is smaller but it’s important too.
2) To cover “something” from “someone”.
Well, if you exclude 2YY from the event in the cafe, characters in his original supreme epic play (not include Haruno) will be himself, victim and villians only. …so in order to not let anyone (especially Haruno who knows his true nature very well) notice any abnormalities and his true intentions in this show, Yukino’s existence is very suitable to interrupt or turn her interest to focus on her little sister, instead of analyzing his perfect but fake drama. His show will be better if he has supporting characters and Yukino will make Haruno (and readers/watchers) review this incident but will never reach the truths.
This is the meaning of covering something from someone. However I will return to the scene after Orimoto and Nakamachi left from the stage. So we will see how he solve another problem by…
it’s queen’s turn, Yukinoshita Haruno!!
if you think Hayama want her to watch his bravery only, …yes, if he had not another problem. But the situation changed so he needed her “help”. Now I will let you imagine the brave knight who can protect victim (he created) from villians (he also created), will be forced by two powerful girls (because he had no any courage to deny) to be scp.
If you look via Hayama, although he can refuse their request, but from “how” he refuse people’s expectations in the past that I mentioned above, and if I consider how “serious” (high expectation degree) 2YY have toward him, let alone about the limit time until the cutoff of the election.
After Orimoto and Nakasomething left the scene, I might be wrong, but I notice Yukino didn’t understand why he who appointed them but he was with unknown girls, angry to them for some reason, gave his opinions that related to everyone in this room, especially themselves (Yukino and Yuigahama).
But both 2YY would know well that they should not question him or show her (Yukino) unsatisfaction. So they didn’t ask anything directly. However I feel that the first speech of Yukino is like she wanted to start the topic about the election. But it is like she questions him why he was with two girls even if he was the one who appointed them so they can discuss serious issue.
After 2YY started the topic, Hayama’s expression when Hachiman looked at him is different in ln and anime. In anime season 2 , it seems he was calm although he had no intention to look at 2YY for some reason. But in ln v8, when every attentions focused at him, he can’t face them and his voice was weak. Although his reply in anime and ln are the same, the interpretation his answer is up to his expression too.
“I just wanted to do whatever I could.”
In ln, I have two assumptions about the meaning of his answer.
- he was scared to refuse what 2YY’s will convince him directly. So if I tl his answer or should I say, reverse his words, he wants to say that [he didn’t want to do whatever he could not.]
- When he notice Hachiman’s stare, it’s possible that he confessed what he will do after this (let his trap card activate).
- Before I suspect his intention about his brave confrontation, I thought he would be tired after did something he never do it before. And I ever thought that he was cool for some reason.
So I will let you imagine his ending if powerful girls, Yukino pointed how he is suitable for this position with the power of ideal, and Yuigahama will help Yukino “asks” him with maximum power as the member of his clique. That’s why he, the brave knight, needed to open the trap card that he prepared in advance. Seeking help from his princess (or his queen).
It’s Queen’s turn. how Hayama stopped another pROBLEM and chased Yukino and Yuigahama away.
His trap card activated!! Its effect makes the opponents got fear status 2 turns. The reason Hayama appointed 2YY to come to the cafe because he expected Haruno’s help to stop what Yukino was going to make him take the heavy responsibility as the scp although he never want to do.
The moment I see Yukino’s intention to convince him to be scp vanished by haruno before Yukino can talk with him, and how he responded her (Yukino) stare when she was aware her action, make me think he is …unbelievable. In order to stop another problem or 2YY, he understands very well about Haruno. If he didn’t know about her, her suffering and her love for her little sister, his another problem would reach him. I mean, he let her watch how her little sister was going to make others (him) do hard work for her (Yukino).
If he didn’t know the harsh life of Haruno, or how she hates the one who makes her suffer, and didn’t know how much love for her little sister, how can she notice what Yukino will do, how can she feel something overwhelming enough to step out from the shadow and crush Yukino’s intention.
Because as other people like us, we would not notice something wrong if “2YY will ask Hayama to participate the election”, right? But for Haruno, who is so sensitive and so emotional when it comes to her family, who always suffers and do hard work as her mother asks, who always cares for her sister.
In case you want to know why I think she’s so sensitive when it comes to family, she showed her feelings in ln v5. But since her words are encrypted in ww style, I did do my best to decrypt for you in Oregairu Analysis – “When” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino.
Hayama who his family is close to her family, always look at her, and his feeling for her, he would achieve these information enough to be aware what Haruno will do if she watches this short moment.

Congratulations! he can solve another problem. But I feel sorry for him to destroy something he ever destroyed for a long time again. I plan to write about this in the last part.
