Analysis focuses on the feelings and thoughts of the character, Haruno toward her younger sister, Yukinoshita Yukino (雪ノ下 雪乃) after she decided to help her beloved sister. that happens in LN v6.

And right now, I will reveal everything I found in LN v6 (anime ss1 ep10) and will focused on Haruno’s point of view mainly. If you already read the second phase post, you would read “the question series” I wrote at the end of that post. So yes, I will reveal the truth or give my assumptions for those questions. But while I am writing this analysis, it appeared that it’s too long (more than other too long analysis I ever wrote), so I will divide this third phase into 2 parts. And of course, this post is The First Part and it will not answer every questions because the remained answers will be carried to “The Last Part” later. I hope you are not confused.

Before I will start…

Let me refer some of my assumptions that will connect to the third phase first. I wrote in the second phase of this analysis about…

• The suffering of Yukinoshita sisters.
• Haruno’s feeling toward her sister.
• After she knew from Yuigahama that her sister doesn’t change after all.

All of these conduct to the determination of Haruno, to help her sister’s problem. She decides to look for the chance by giving her the recognition by using the position and responsibility she ever did. With the social-acceptance from the important position, the self-acceptance is the result Haruno is hoping (her sister will accept herself, and to make her realize she doesn’t need to follow her step anymore). Because she was the chairwoman before and successful in her duty, as the result, she got the social-acceptance.

So I assume she looked from her own experience in the past, and is confident that if her sister works hard (I think Haruno would know Yukino is serious in job) while she takes a position of the important rank (like the chairwomen), her sister will improve herself, people will accept herself. Basically, Haruno will bring the good point of her sister to show it to the public. And the purpose of Haruno, I wrote in the second phase already, if her sister can accept herself, she will not leave her anymore. Let me tell you first that people will do for their own sake as the first priority, and for the sake of other people the second.

So I assume that she wants to help her sister to bring her back so she will not lose her again, and she (Haruno…., yes Haruno) will not be alone anymore. Also she wishes her sister will be the better person and will not suffer because of the superior and inferior issue. And from Haruno’s feeling in LN v5, I am sure that although she can’t oppose/resist her family because of her own fear, at least she can help her sister outside their family.

So in this third phase, I will try my best to reveal everything I found, after Haruno’s decision to help Yukino.

Sagami Minami wanna be…

(I’m so HAPPY!!)

I will skip to the first time Hachiman and Sagami Minami (相模 南) are the representatives of their class. After she got pushed to be the representative by the recommendation from Hayama Hayato (葉山 隼人), we can see she is proud when “outstanding people” like Hayama recommend her and doesn’t hesitate to brag about this to other girls she talks with. I think this is normal because people would feel the same as her if people in the upper class of the society, accepts or gives the precedence to her/him in the public, like Sagami was recommended by Hayama (actually Tobe too, but she forgets about him) to be the representative of the class.

But since she is in the same class with Miura Yumiko (三浦 優美子), the queen of the class, we can see she is depressed because she can’t be No.1 of the class. And from Yumiko’s scary fire queen, it’s no chance she can compete with her, so she ended up giving up as the result. That’s why she feels depressed when some girls she is talking with, mentioned Yumiko’s name. I think Sagami always seeks for the acceptance. Although she is accepted by Hayama, this didn’t make her feels satisfied. Just like when she knows that Haruka (one of girls she talks with) are in the basketball club, she says she should join a club too, since she has no luck in class. I think she seeks for the acceptance in the other place that no the big obstacle like Yumiko instead. Maybe in this committee room too if she has the chance.

I don’t know Sagami is looking for the acceptance in the the small world like the planning committee too or not, but when people in the meeting room realize “a certain person” is coming into the room, it was a far cry (in anime, there are no scenes like that). If you look via Sagami’s point of view, the most outstanding girl like Yukino is the one who will draw people’s eyes without any effort, so she is the biggest obstacle of Sagami. The perfect existence that she would never reach. I’m not surprised if Sagami will be envious of her and the envy will change into the hatred. Just like she doesn’t like Yumiko, she would not like another queen of the school. Come to think of it, in people’s eyes, Yukino is in the same upper class as Hayama. The No.1 of the school, not just in her class only, the absolute queen who people will always look.

People expect Yukino.

Maybe since there’s anyone who is the chair yet, so Shiromeguri Meguri (城廻 めぐり), the student council president, starts the electing the planning committee chairman. But no one wants to try for that position. This result makes the physical education teacher Atsugi (the adviser for the Cultural Festival) takes action and notices Yukinoshita’s sister. He says like he has high expectation in Yukino will make the grand festival like the last time too. Even Meguri who realizes she is Haruno’s sister, starts expecting in her. It seems both of them saw Haruno’s succession, so they hope her little sister would be the chairwoman like her, and expect the festival will be successful, like when Haruno is the chairwoman. But do they realize they are forcing her?

Yukino doesn’t want anyone compare herself with Haruno.

When we see via Yukino’s point of view, it appears that people have high expectation she can do like her sister, will make the festival successful like her sister did. I assume she hates when people do like that to her and bring her perfect sister as the role model she must follow. It is not different from when her family (or her mother) always make her felt the pressure and inferior toward her sister because her mother had high expectation but it appeared she can’t answer her expectation.

So the situation this time is making her recall the bitter past. Yukino left from the house so she will not feel like that again, but people here are doing the same. If she can’t answer their expectation, they will be disappointed in her, just like when her family was disappointed in her because she can’t be like her older sister.

Meguri is scary.

So she chooses to reject their request. Stop expectations, stop the despair in the future. So no one will make her feels guilty because Haruno’s existence again. But Meguri is the stubborn one. She tells her the benefits if she accepts to be the chairwoman, and Meguri activates “sword of promised victory, Excal***” (maybe she is Saber)  that will make anyone who see her stare, surrender. Yukino has high stamina so she is strong like the fortress but Megauri’s noble ph@nt@sm is “Anti-Fortress”. As expected of the king of the Sobu kingdom.

ps. Meguri’s noble ph@nt@sm never happen in anime ss1 and manga -Monologue-.

Sagami wants it.

(I’m so HAPPY!!)

When Yukino is going to surrender and accept the position, Sagami volunteers to be the chairwoman. I think she would think it’s good luck for her because Yukino refuses this position. So she doesn’t hesitate to snatch it. I suspect she think this position will give her the attention from people. With this chairwoman position she will be the most important person, more than the one she is envious and sitting in the same room right now. But when Meguri lets her take charge, she doesn’t expect she must do the job. What she wants from this position is the good point she seeks only, not the job she never do it before.

So I agree with Hachiman that she wants to be the outstanding person so she will cover her inner self who lacks the confidence. But this job will not let her take the benefit just because she accepts it, she needs to do her job seriously so she can achieve it, and this position and time will make people know she has the property to do this duty or not. In other words, she throw herself into the situation she doesn’t want to be the most, the position that needs the leadership and management skill.

And when look at her reaction when she needs to take charge, she lacks both. When the meeting ends, Hachiman notices Sagami is in dejection. I assume she is shocked and depressed after she was under pressure earlier, and I will not be surprised if she is scared when people are looking at her and expect her to do this job properly. But she accepted this heavyweight position already, so she can’t walk away although she wants. This is not the part time job you can quit whenever you want if you don’t like that job.  And soon and everyday, she will climb to the stage and fight with the heavyweight champion while she is just the lightweight. So what should she do?

Seek help from the deputy chief.

Since she is the chairwoman, she would think she will seek help from others. But who can help her? I think she might consult with the adviser or the student council president when Hachiman noticed she and co. are talking with them. I think it’s reasonable and suitable, because Hiratsuka Shizuka (平塚 静) and Megarui are there for her to support her anyway. But she chooses to seek help from Yukino instead. Why?

I think Sagami can’t let herself to ask for help from both of them, because if anyone who wants to be the chair, at least s/he should consider her/himself has the potential to sit in this position or not. But in her case, she just wants this position so she can be the outstanding person only, so I guess she didn’t consider she can do this job or not. That’s why maybe, this is the reason she can’t ask them for help. If they realize she is not suitable for this position, I think she doesn’t want them (who she thinks they are expecting she can do it) to feel disappointed in her or think she is stupid to volunteer to be the chair, but can’t do it. I think this is some kind of pride or something but mix with her own fear.

If she can’t seek help from people who she thinks they are expecting in her, who will she seek help from? So she scans people in the planning committee who can help her. I feel she doesn’t think her friends can help her because she sees them is at the same level as her. So the only one she thinks s/he can help her, …is Yukino. I agree with Hachiman about she got info about where Yukino should be from Hiratsuka-sensei. I don’t know how she asked her so she got info about the club. But if Sagami needs to know where Yukino would be after school so she can meet her, she needs to ask Yukino herself or anyone who knows. I think she makes some excuse until Hiratsuka-sensei told her where Yukino should be in the evening. Or it’s possible she knows for a long time that Yukino is in the service club, and didn’t ask about this to sensei.

I think Sagami must seek help from Yukino outside the planning committee so she will not lose face. If she asks help there, I will let you imagine she can stay in that room if people hear her request. I don’t need to think too much, We would know that she has a malicious intention toward Yukino. I wrote before that she is envious of her. So she will use her by asking help so she can get the benefit/credit because she thinks Yukino will do the job properly than her while Yukino will not get any credit because she is the vice only (in case she accepts Sagami’s request).

Also I feel that Sagami thinks she has right to use the subordinate like Yukino to do her job. In the reality, there’re many chiefs who will not hesitate to throw their own jobs to their deputy chiefs, just because they think they can’t do it, or are too lazy to do it, or wants more free time. The chiefs like that will get all credit and benefits in the end and the deputy chiefs have no choice but need to do it. Buhahahaha (I laugh because I got this experience myself).

And if she asks Yukino to do the job, it means she needs to be the vice chairman to do so. So Sagami will not lose face in front of people in the planning committee and can cling to the chairwoman position.

Even so, why does Yukino accept Sagami’s request?

When Yukino accepts Sagami’s request, even I am surprised in her answer. Because I agree with Hachiman and Yuigahama, they are sure she will reject this ridiculous request. Because in v1, she didn’t like when Yuigahama made some excuse before she will cancel the cooking lesson. I don’t think she hates Yuigahama, but hates how she gave up so easily and drag other people to make some excuse. Yuigahama’s case and Sagami’s case are similar. Hachiman and Yuigahama are waiting for Absolute Zero that will descend to Sagami soon, because she gives up so easily in her duty and forcing Yukino to do her job.

So to find out what Yukino thinks so she decides to help Sagami is very difficult, and I’m not sure I’m right either because she didn’t give any tiny clue in LN. But if I must find the reason behind her decision, I think I will look in v5. Beep!!

In v5, Yukino who lived in the Yukinoshita house, realized from Haruno that Hachiman and Yuigahama knew that she also got involved with the car accident. So like I wrote in the second phase, she feels guilty because she never has courage to talk about this fact to him and Yuigahama. So when they met again in the school, she tried to say something that would relate to that incident, but he interrupted her. If we see via her point of view, she might think he is upset with her so he doesn’t want to talk with her much. I assume she doesn’t know how he is feeling. But we always see ourselves as the center of the universe, so it’s not surprised if she thinks he is upset with her. Actually, it might be true he is upset with her, but he is upset with himself more than her. Although in his monologue, he never scold her in his mind, but when I read the last remark, I think it hides his hidden feeling toward her.

——Even Yukinoshita Yukino tells lies.

But yes, it’s just my personal opinion about Hachiman’s hidden feeling, but when I see Yukino hardly talks after this incident, I feel she feels depressed in herself, and maybe she thinks he and her would not be friendly like before again, or thinks he will not forgive her. So as the result, she creates the transparent wall. The transparent wall means she chooses to not talk to anyone like usual and concentrates in her reading instead only. Even Yuigahama was affected by her icy magic.

Actually, I write about Yukino’s feeling before Sagami will come to the club room because I want to tell you that human’s feeling is not clean after an incident to another incident. So although Hachiman and Yuigahama are sure she will never accept Sagami’s ridiculous request, it doesn’t mean her mind will be static like they saw her honest and serious action (her outer appearance) in the past. But I don’t think she agrees with Sagami’s reasons and request because she asks Sagami this is against her own desire to growth But still, she accepts her request because…

She wishes to be distant from Hachiman. – The cause of this is because her feeling I wrote above. It’s like the next result of their conflict that happens because he knows the truth, she tried to act as if she doesn’t know him to avoid “his hatred” because the car accident is not the positive incident. So she tried to avoid to get involved in “the bad omen” (that is the possibility that he will hate her if he knows that she got involved in that accident too) as much as she could.

Especially when both of them are in the club just now, he said something that “triggered” her trauma (that she experienced something like this from the bulling incident in her elementary school, confronted the cruel truth that were girls’ hatred and their actions). So at least, her actions make me understand things she wants to avoid, “people’s hatred” and “bad omen that might make her stand at the center of that hatred”.

That’s why she wants to keep distant from people who is discontent with her by moving to the different position in the committee and even increasing her workload (she and Hachiman are in the same department in the committee). Accepting Sagami’s request will help her forget what is making her feels guilty and she can isolate herself from the environment where Hachiman lives.

Moving out from the committee is impossible so what she can do is getting a chance that Sagami offers. So all of these are the reasons why Yukino say yes to Sagami.

Yuigahama is jealous.

Yukino is surprised when she heard Yuigahama’s tone is much more severe (I will explain why her tone is like this later) when she questions her. But she tells them that…

“…It’s something I’m doing personally. It’s not something you two need to worry about.”

If my assumptions about reasons why Yukino accepts Sagami’s request are right, I would believe in this remark.

I don’t know what Yuigahama means when she says they should do it together, because Sagami’s duty is not what outsider like Yuigahama can assist. She has her own work to do in the class already.

But again that Yukino activates the transparent wall so she will not need to discuss about this issue anymore. When Yuigahama talks with Hachiman again, she feels so upset. At first I think she is upset at Sagami, and right now, I still think she feels like that. But when she wants to confess something to him and hopes he will not hate her, I start to think that even Yuigahama can hate someone, not because that person is using her friend, but because of the reason that is understanding.

When she was listening to Sagami’s request, she was sure that Yukino will not accept it, but it’s not like she expected. Yukino, her friend accepts to do something heavy for that person, and that person is the one she doesn’t like that much. When she says yes to Sagami, Sagami was excited and approached to her. I think when Yuigahama watched this scene, it’s like Sagami is stealing her friend because she saw Sagami is friendly with Yukino. After Sagami and co. left, you can see why she is so upset at Yukino. She is not worried because Yukino must shoulder the burden only, but I feel that she is so jealous.

The dissatisfaction of Yuigahama is realistic because this situation might happen. I suppose that my close (female) friend is friendly with other girl outside the circle. And if it is going well, my friend might be close with that girl and spend less time with me = my doubt might be expanded to the point I am worried that I will lose your close friend, it’s like my world, my sanctuary is going to be corrupted. This situation will happen when that friend is the close friend and the one who is friendly with her is the same gender. It is the same in boy’s circle. And it’s the similar when Yumiko snatched Yuigahama from Sagami’s circle. When I think it’s similar, I mean I don’t think Sagami will think Yuigahama is her close friend but something like her property. When someone steals things she belongs to, she is so upset. But she can’t do anything to Yumiko because she is …the queen.

But I don’t think Yuigahama can confront Sagami because in LN v5-6, she is friendly with anyone. So although she doesn’t like her, she can’t show her feeling or even stop her either. so she locks the target at Yukino instead and questions her. However, Yukino doesn’t want to be friendly with Sagami, because with my assumptions above, she did this for her own sake only. But her and Sagami’s action are making Yuigahama burning like Fire Tornado.

Cut! Cut!

So when she confesses her feeling indirectly to Hachiman, it seems although she doesn’t like Sagami, she insists to be friendly with her to maintain the status quo outside her own clique too, so she and Sagami will not be enemies although they feel the same with other side, they will not show it clearly.

“That’s why, I don’t really like what Sagami’s doing… Also, how Yukinon is listening to her request, and how Sagami is trying to get along with her…”

OK. Losing close friend by the one she hates, is not what she can stand it.

So when Yuigahama is relieved because she vent her feeling to Hachiman, what is still remained is Yukino’s trouble after this. So she is worried about her friend. That’s why she requests him to help her. Again she forces her own expectation to him like when she did in v5. I think she is sure he can do it, but we will see what she will say if he can’t answer her expectation in the future.

Grr…

From Hachiman’s point of view, Yukino dove right into the work. The work progressed without delay. She is doing her best into her duty (and Sagami’s duty). I think to this point, Sagami doesn’t feel bad yet because she sees the vice is doing the job for her. But when they are having the meeting, Yukino’s vision skill activates in maximum power, she checks the work progress of each departments and gives them the directions. But Yukino’s “water power” is interrupting the chairwoman. Because in this moment, the chair like her will be the only one who is the most outstanding, but the vice is stealing her scene over and over (it can’t help, because she is the one who wants Yukino do it), as if Yukino is bullying her. So you can see Sagami is shocked and so upset in the vice.

Not only that, Yukino’s circumspection makes the school council president praises her, not the chairwoman. After the meeting, everyone give praise to the vice and wonder who the actual chairwoman was. I feel that Sagami’s hatred toward Yukino is increasing.

Which people Haruno wants to meet?

I will guess, Hiratsuka-sensei (her former teacher and her friend) and Meguri (her junior). Therefore, there are more two people she will not miss to meet them again, Yukino (her sister) and Hachiman (if you read my analysis about “Y” above, you would know why she will come to meet him). And it means she wants to meet these four people, she would know where Meguri and Yukino should be, because…

• Meguri’s case – If we imagine when Haruno is still the chairwoman, she would work with the school council president (not Meguri), and if she wants to meet Meguri who is the president this year, she would know where her junior should be, because the president will support the chairwoman and the planning committee.
• Yukino’s case – She can guess where her little sister, Yukino should be too, since if Haruno was the legendary chairwoman, her sister would not sit in the club or work in the class, since Haruno’s legend will not let her be there, or since her little sister is the princess in her own class, her classmates might vote her to work in the committee room.

I am not sure Haruno knows where Hiratsuka-sensei would be, but she would knot know where Hachiman would be (because when she meets him again, she says she is surprised he works for the planning committee since he is not the type who will work there). So I think she can find both of them later.

Why does Haruno come to the school?

If you want to know why Haruno, the college student who should be busy, wants to come to the school so much, you can read the second phase Oregairu analysis – “When” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino, or just look at the title of this post, you would know her purpose now, but if you want to know why she thinks like this, link of this analysis is above. ⇑

If you already finish read the second phase in link above, her appearance is understanding, to help her little sister, Yukino has more self esteem, so she will be more confident and can accept in herself so she will not follow her shadow and feels inferior as the result anymore. If Haruno can help her sister, she hopes Yukino will not leave her anymore. So basically, she doesn’t want to feel lonely again. And with her love toward her sister, she would help her with all her might.

I don’t know how she can make Meguri thinks it’s coincidental she meets her in the city, but I think Haruno can do something so they can meet coincidentally. Because if my analysis in the second phase is correct about her, after she decided to help her sister, what next is she needs to do anything to meet people who can let her come to the school smoothly, I mean, she doesn’t want anyone realizes she wants to come to the school from the start. Let someone invites her as the quest should be naturally. ♥♥

And now she appeared, when Yukino asks why she is here, I think Haruno’s answer is not a lie or pretending at all, she says what is in her mind (although before, I thought that she is pretending by looking at her expression).

I believe her words.

Do you remember when I wrote about Hayama’s thought that Haruno wants to meet people she likes or not? Although this is his thought, I think this is Haruno’s wish too (but she comes to help her sister as the first priority). Right now she meets two people already, so people she doesn’t meet yet are Hiratsuka-sensei and Hachiman.

ps. Hayama didn’t go to the conference room with Hachiman in anime and manga -Monologue-

So when Yukino notices him, her older sister does too. When she notices him, she greets him enthusiastic. But when Hayama appears next to Hachiman, she greets him too, but if you look at her reactions and tones when she greets both of them, it’s so different.

Yahallo!

“Oh? It’s Hikigaya-kun! Hyahallo!” Noticing me, Haruno-san gave me a greeting that was indefinitely enthusiastic.

“Hi, Hayato.” Haruno-san lightly lifted her hand.

You can see her tone is so enthusiastic when she greets Hachiman, but although she and Hayama are casual, her tone and reaction are not like earlier. Actually, you can see how different she responds to both of them in LN v8 (anime Zoku ep3) or you can read more in Oregairu Analysis – And Then, Yukinoshita Haruno Launched Operation Fire Doughnut! (Part 3).

I didn’t think Hayama is in the list she wants to meet because her feeling toward him in this analysis explained everything already.

 But Haruno doesn’t care.

When she is going to approach Hachiman but she was interfered by Hayama, I am not sure but I feel that Haruno realizes that he is blocking her and Hachiman. Because she would know his feeling toward her but if you read Haruno’s operation fire doughnut (part 3) (link is above) ⇑, you would know how she is feeling toward Hayama too. So no matter she knows he is stopping her to do what she wants or not, her feeling toward Hayama is not what I can overlook. So when the one she hates, appears in front of her, and he is stopping her to do what she wants, how is she feeling?

When she notice that Hachiman is curious about their relationship (her and Hayama), I feel that her answer is like she throws a right hook to Hayam’s face. Because her answer this time has hidden meaning, although she and Hayama are casual, she doesn’t care about their relationship. She says to Hachiman (and to Hayama) that Hachiman can be casual with her too, and started calling his first name. I understand if you think she just want tease Hachiman only, I think the same, but I feel her remark has hidden meaning to tell Hayama that although people will see them are casual, she doesn’t care about that status, and doesn’t care how he is feeling either.

“Mm? Aah, Hayato’s like a little brother to me. We’ve known each other since a long time ago. You can be casual with me too, Hikigaya-kun, you know? In that case, should I call you Hachiman? Hachiman?”

…I hear the thunder around there (maybe it’s just me).

When I think Haruno wants to tease Hachiman too, When she teased him and he took little damage, her gazes at him complacent. I notice she never miss even one chance to tease him. This is just me, but I feel this is how she will do when she is with the one she is looking for.

Haruno miscalculates.

After Haruno done with boxing and teasing, she returns her gaze to her little sister again, and asks her to participate in the school festival. I think to this point, she is sure her little sister would be the chairwoman already (because people would expect her to sit in the same position because they are having expectation). So when Yukino tells her she is not the one who can decide that, Haruno realizes immediately her sister is not the chairwoman.

When Haruno re-calculates again, she realizes almost immediately why her sister didn’t accept this position. I look from her expression and I think Yukino doesn’t like when her older sister realizes her hidden reason why she didn’t accept this offer. But I think to this point, Haruno needs the chairwoman to allow her to participate in this festival, or else her plan to help her sister in the school will become the bubbles instead.

So she asks who is the chair. And I feel she sees Hachiman has potential to be the chair. Maybe it’s because she has not many choices to pick (because in the room right now, people she knows and thinks they can work as the chair are Meguri and Hachiman.) However, I notice she didn’t consider “another person” who is still watching her in the committee room at all, guess who? she didn’t include Hayama, the popular guy in the school. Maybe it’s because he is not in her eyes, maybe she doesn’t think he can be since she knows him well.

The biggest obstacle to Haruno’s secret mission

But her answer is still wrong. Because Hachiman answers to her that he is not the chairman. After that, the real chairman shows up. Sagami tells them that she is late because she was in the class. When Haruno saw her and listened to her excuse like that, how is she is feeling?

The lightweight chairwoman VS The former heavyweight chairwoman

Haruno-san’s gaze was locked onto Sagami with curiosity.

Those eyes again. Those demonic eyes that chillingly evaluated your worth

When you see via Haruno’s point of view, you would doubt Sagami is suitable to be the chairman or not. If the chair is not serious in her duty and has fun in the class, it means the vice chairman (her sister) will shoulder all burdens instead. Previously, she is sure her sister would be the chairman, so what she needs to do is just do anything to show Yukino’s value to the public, and she needs to do it behind the scene so Yukino will not notice what she is planning. I have no clue how Haruno will do in order to make her sister shine, but right now, she realizes there’s a big obstacle to her secret mission, Sagami Minami.

If Haruno lets Sagami do whatever she wants, it’s no way people can see her sister’s potential, because as the former chairwoman and the chairwoman in her father’s company, she is the only one who know about this. If it continue like this, her sister will end up being Sagami’s slave, overwork until the end but no any credits, and Sagami who didn’t work much, will get all credits for the public instead. Although in the committee, people there know well who are working hard (the chair or the vice), but they can’t say anything although they want, because they know well they are just subordinate only. Who will defy the chairman? So no one will help her sister from this situation, and her secret mission will fail. ⊗ Because what Haruno wants is to make Yukino can accept in herself, by showing her value to the public. Showing the value in this committee room only will not make her mission succeeds.

[Come to think of it, this is just random thought, but I think Haruno sees Hachiman can help her sister by defying the chairwoman, but I don’t think she will make him sacrifice himself to help her sister. He is one of planning committee and if he did that, he will be Sagami’s enemy. And you would not want to be enemy of the chairman when you still need to work there until the end, right? And this is the problem she wants to solve so she comes to the school, is the problem between herself and her sister, so she will do it by herself secretly. Rely on others to solve launch help her sister is not ridiculous. But this is my personal thought only. Maybe she doesn’t think she will involve him from the beginning, because she comes to the school to do anything for her sister and her own sake from the start, so the thought to make people do it for her secret mission is not what is in Haruno’s mind (imagine when the heroine is walking to the battle field).] Music!!

And I still didn’t mention about Haruno’s love toward her sister yet. If the one she cares for, is bullied by someone, how is she feeling? With all reasons I can think, become the next result. You can feel Haruno’s hatred toward Sagami when she started opening her mouth. She doesn’t like how Sagami is not interested in her own duty that has an effect on her sister severely too.

“Hmmm…” Haruno-san didn’t look the least interest, yet she let out a small breath and took a step closer. “The Cultural Festival planning committee chairman is late? On top of that, you showed up to class instead? Uh huuuh…”

Haruno will not call her name.

Eh? Really?

To this point, I wrote Haruno’s hatred toward Sagami. I’m sure because I look at Haruno’s style to not call name of people who she doesn’t like collectedly, sometimes she even bent the name of that character. For Sagami Minami‘s case, Haruno’s unfriendly attitude is in upper level. She doesn’t call her name and is sarcastic to her as well (Somethinggami-chan, Amagami and Chairwoman-chan). And Sagami herself doesn’t realize her hidden intention but thinks positively because Haruno calls her with the important position.

“Yeah, a chairman has got to be that way, right!? As someone who can enjoy the Cultural Festival to its fullest, that’s absolutely perfect for a chairman! Sounds good to me! Um, Somethinggami-chan I think? Am@gami? Oh, whatever. Chairwoman-chan works.”

Also if she is like Hachiman thinks in v5, she is not the type who will forget people’s name so easily (and after Sagami introduce herself just now too). So I am sure she intends to call Sagami like that. She plays her name but doesn’t forget to end with Sagami’s position. I assume that Haruno didn’t want to call her Chairwoman-chan much, but she needs to use Sagami to accept her request, so she pretends to approve her first. So she will cover “her true intention” with chairwoman stuffs. If I hide “chairwoman stuffs”, it will be like this.

“Yeah, a chairman has got to be that way, right!? As someone who can enjoy the Cultural Festival to its fullest, that’s absolutely perfect for a chairman! Sounds good to me! Um, Somethinggami-chan I think? Am@gami? Oh, whatever. Chairwoman-chan works.”

You will notice that, after Sagami approved her to be the volunteer in the school festival, Haruno didn’t call her “chairwoman-chan” anymore.

[This is just me, but I think chairwoman-chan is not a name you will call someone who you want to give respect, because it has -chan too. If Haruno wants to show her respect to Sagami for real, she can just call her “chairwoman” or “chairman”, doesn’t need to add “-chan”.]

But as if Sagami will know Haruno’s hidden feeling and plan while bending her name like that and pretends she is approving her.

Why does Haruno affirm Sagami?

Then, I will use her~.

Many reasons.

So Sagami will believe she sides with her.

If I am sure Haruno hates Sagami and consider she is the biggest obstacle for her secret mission, then why does she says as if she is supporting her? I think she would know well about people like Sagami since she herself is working in her father’s company, so she knows how to manipulate her. I assume she knows this girl wants to be the chairman so she can gain many benefits from it. One of benefits from this position is the recognition from other people. And this is what Haruno wants her sister to gains it, like she got when she was the chairman.

And she would not expect Sagami will volunteer to sit in this position so she can develop herself because it seems she doesn’t give precedence to her duty as much as she should do. So Haruno just gives what Sagami wants. Because she knows what will happen if Sagami got affirmation from her (the former legendary chairwoman). Sagami would be delighted. And if Sagami got recognition, she will do what she wants because this person thinks she is the chairwoman. Yippee! And Sagami will believe Haruno sides with her. Basically, Haruno deceives Sagami.

So the chairwoman will allow her to participate in the school festival.

Please grant my wish, chairwoman-chan.

If Haruno gives Sagami the affirmation, Sagami will think she sides with her. So it will not be surprised if Sagami will say yes to whatever Haruno requests (since she IS the chairwoman). Haruno is having little problem because she wants to participate in the festival, so she needs the approval officially from the chairman first. So she will be the ally of Sagami (unofficially) so this girl will give the permission to her and she can be in the school, do whatever she is planning for her sister.

So Sagami will destroy herself and her sister will be the real chairman.

I assume Haruno would know that Sagami will make Yukino overwork for her, and I think everyone in the committee room would know what she is doing but can’t say anything. At first I don’t understand why Haruno sides with Sagami and supports her in whatever she thinks. But right now, I will assume Haruno wants Sagami to destroy herself. Because Sagami is doing right now is just giving Yukino more burden unnecessary, but it’s just that. It doesn’t take effect to the work progress of the planning committee yet because Yukino (the vice) is doing her best. So in order to make Sagami destroy herself secretly, is to let her do whatever she wants.

If Sagami crosses the line until people in the committee room can’t stand it, or impacts the work progress of the planning committee severely, what will happen to Sagami might be what you are imagining. If Sagami resigns from the position, guess who people in the committee room will recommend to be the chairman. So basically, Haruno wants to drive Sagami away and give this position to her sister. No one will know this is what she is aiming. And if that happened, she doesn’t care what/where Sagami will do, but I don’t think people in the class will not ask her why she is in the class, and why Yukino is the chairman. Sagami will not have place to stay anymore. But I will not think this is what Haruno is aiming too, since the first priority in her mind is what she should concentrate.

Why does Haruno side with Sagami?

So for all reasons above, if she wants to make it happen, she needs act as the enemy of the vice first (and the ally with the chair). I wrote in the second phase that in order to help sister, she needs to spend time and learn strategies to make her wish comes true. And one of the efficient strategies is to be the strong enemy in the society. But for Haruno’s role, I think it’s not the villain who appears in public. The role she needs to be is the dark witch who will be by the king’s side who are so naive and whispers sweet but evil suggestions to that king. Basically, she will make Sagami becomes “the enemy” in the organization (the planning committee). So if the citizens who can’t stand the hardship or impacts the work progress of the planning committee severely because of the tyrant king, they will not blame the dark witch, but will blame who you are thinking right now instead. If the citizens can drive the tyrant king away, the throne will need the king. The suitable person who will get recognition by people, will be the one who will sit to the throne.

And that person that will be the chairman next to Sagami is…

So if you think what the **** Haruno is doing, or you are upset in her doing, I can understand your feeling, she intends to act like the dark witch for real. But with my assumptions above, I doubt she is doing all of these just to tease/bully her sister. I think Haruno doesn’t mind if people (or Hachiman) will feel so negative in her either, since the cost she must pay can’t compare with the worthiness she is expecting. If her sister is the chairman for real, I think people would forget what Haruno done if the situation will be better.

So this is my assumption why Haruno sides with Sagami.

How does Haruno make Sagami becomes Yukino’s enemy clearly.

As I mentioned about Haruno wants Sagami to do whatever she wants. And if you know what Sagami did after she got Haruno’s affirmation, it is like Haruno expected. Sagami right now is ready to do whatever she pleased. Haruno’s next move is to make Sagami is the enemy of the vice who is working hard for the planning committee. But right now she wants to participate in the festival, so she asks Sagamai to allow this request, also Haruno doesn’t forget to tell Sagami that her sister will not allow with this idea. Sagami, who got support from Haruno, has not any reasons to deny this request anyway. Haruno is the only ally who approved her just now, and Haruno is the former student and chairwoman of the planning committee, also although Sagami would not know, but Meguri is the one who invited Haruno to participate in the festival anyway, so it’s no way Sagami will reject Haruno’s request.

However, I don’t know Haruno knows that Sagami doesn’t like her sister or not, but her secret mission is still the same. However it appears that Sagami shows her feeling toward Yukino clearly. Haruno herself pretends she feels very sad that her sister will not allow her, so if you look via Sagami’s point of view, she would sympathize and side with Haruno. With the hatred feeling toward the vice (her rival), and to show the sympathy to Haruno (her ally), Sagami thinks they don’t get along with, so she uses the superiority from her position to win her rival.

But Sagami is misunderstanding something, she never know that the one who is the absolute ally of Yukino, is standing in front of her right now, the almighty dark witch.

After Sagami gives Haruno the permission to participate in the school festival. Haruno is pleased openly and embraces the chairwoman but quickly releases her and muttered with distant eyes. I think she pretends to be delighted to show Sagami that she is feeling like that, but when she hugged her and released quickly, I notice she doesn’t want to touch people who she hates, so I think Haruno pretends to hug Sagami so she will believe she is appreciate in her help.

So right now, the tyrant king has the witch by his side.

ps. About Haruno released her embrace quickly, didn’t show in anime and manga -Monologue-.

Remember the scene when Haruno wants to invite her friends? I think the author wants to add “the scene that will make Sagami shows her own hatred feeling to Yukino openly”. So the scene that Haruno will do whatever she wants and Sagami supports her idea, makes the vice must say something to stop the chairwoman, because although it’s Haruno’s own will when she says she wants to invite friends, but it doesn’t mean Sagami can tell the volunteer (the outsider) to do the job that the planning committee (the volunteer management) should do it by themselves. However, it seems Sagami thinks different.

I think Sagami catches this chance to win Yukino again by rejecting whatever the vice (her rival) wants to suggest. Sagami chooses the easy route by supporting Haruno to call more people. And Sagami doesn’t hesitate to make the vice lose her face by bringing the bad relationship between her and her sister in public. I think Sagami never miss the chance to make herself feels good by hurting her rival’s feeling. But does she realize or not that everyone in the room are listening, include the dark witch who is using her phone, and “another boy”.

So Haruno’s plan to make Sagami becomes Yukino’s enemy clearly is successful.

Even citizens know the tyrant king shows the enmity to the nobleman who is working hard with them.

Haruno is making Hachiman misunderstand again.

After she done with her secret plan to make Sagami becomes the enemy of Yukino openly, it’s time to take a break and wait for the next opportunity to make Sagami becomes the tyrant king of the country. Right now, she is chatting with her kouhai, Sagami and co. And when Sagami & co. are so excited for some reason, I think Haruno would know what Sagami will do next, so she can wait until the time has come. When she notices Hachiman, she walks and sits next to him and is curious why he ends up here, because she doesn’t think he intends to work here, the planning committee, but she is smart, realizes who is behind the scene of his destiny.

He didn’t get it.

She got it.

Because I’m the cause.

Haruno tells Hachiman that she knows her sister will work here, because her own existence and her achievement in the past. So it’s ultra rare if her sister will do activities in the club or the classroom, since people who know Haruno’s legend would expect her sister to be like her too. And when Hachiman sees while Haruno is giving her comment, her tone is like was tinged with ridicule, I think he might misunderstand in what she sees again (like in LN v5, I wrote about his misunderstanding about Haruno when she is talking with him and shows expression that can make people misunderstand). And the reason why her tone is tinged with ridicule, is similar to “her smile” when she knows from Yuigahama that her sister chose the same path with her (the science and public university) in v5. I wrote about Haruno’s feeling back then in the second phase (link is above) ⇑. And if you are curious what I mean about his misunderstanding, you can read in the second phase, you will know how he is so negative in Haruno.

Haruno’s regret

If you skip or finish reading the second phase I recommend, I will conclude that Haruno right now is regretting (??). And her sister would get involve with her regret too. If you want to know my assumption about this, dozo. Right now she is talking about her sister would end up here (the committee room) because of her own existence and her achievement in the past, ok? And if you already read the first phase of this analysis (and like always, link is above) ⇑, you would know the timeline of Yukino a bit.

Yukino was bullied again by two girls, they used chain mail. This incident happened during middle school period. So it means when Yukino is the middle school student in Japan, back then her sister would be the high school student in Sobu High. And when Haruno becomes the chairwoman, she should not be the third year, since in this year students will not involve with activity much because they need to study hard for the entrance exam (just like when she doesn’t think Meguri will be the chairwoman this year because she is the third year already). And I don’t think she will be the chair when she is still the first year either, so when Haruno becomes the chairwoman, her sister would be the second year.

And Yukino told Meguri that she ever come to the school and watched the concert that her sister played. So it means Yukino watched Haruno’s legend when she was the chairwoman. And Haruno was shinning in maximum power (and the festival back then became the blast, even the faculty got involved with this too). I think Haruno back then, although she was wearing the cheerful mask, but I feel that she did her very best in activities and her position, because in LN v8, I remember she is not fond of with works in the student council. Although work in the planning committee is difficult and need to get involved with many documents, it’s like challenge too. And the activities she participated like the playing music is what she is fond of (if you got Drama CD v7, you would know Haruno likes playing music and got involved with the places that allow her to do what she likes). So although she is the type that must do her best all times, in the activities in the school cultural festival, I think, for Haruno, she was looking forward to it. And her legend is the result of her effort.

However, this is my personal thought, maybe she just do whatever that thrown to her, like Hiratsuka-sensei told Hachiman in v5. But if you has a chance to listen to Drama CD v7, you will know she likes to play musical instruments. And in manga @Comic, you will see she is playing guitar, Hiratsuka-sensei plays guitar/bass.

That time, Haruno might drink M@x Coffee too much. So please imagine when her sister comes to the hall and watched Haruno is shinning in maximum power (well, she is the sun) and people are so excited while watched the concert she was playing. I think what Haruno is regretting, might be after this incident. Yukino saw the perfect being and it made her want to be like her sister. I don’t know when Haruno realized her sister thought like that, but Yukino’s belief is not what Haruno wants. If you read the second phase already, you will know about “the source” that made Yukino wants to be like her sister, and Haruno’s shinning makes her sister’s belief intense as the result.

And this is my assumption about Haruno’s regret this time. Because I connect with many clues in LN v5-6 (or the first and second phase of my analysis) and she is talking about the reasons why Yukino ended up working in the planning committee. I think Haruno’s regret in v5 and v6, have connection somewhere. Maybe it’s because “her expressions” in v5-6 are similar.

And I think Haruno heard Sagami’s proclamation about bad relationship between herself and her sister, so I feel that although she is calling her friends, but how is she feeling when she heard sensitive topic like this, and her sister got damage because of that?

Hachiman can’t reach her.

ps. This section didn’t appear in anime and Manga -Monologue-

He wants to know what Haruno is thinking at this time. Although he understands about Yukinoshita sisters don’t get along each other, and from the conversations with her (started at the firework festival and this time) make him think she understood about this sensitive issue very well, but even so, he, who is so negative in Haruno, sees her as a enigma, can’t get what she wants to seek. So he asks her honestly. But I think Haruno is sensitive one. And this time, if my assumption about her feeling is correct, at this moment, it’s not the right time to ask her because her emotion right now is …trembling.

So when she heard his question that invades her own heart, I can understand why she asks him back like that. Because he would not believe her anyway although he wants to know. But I think there’s not only one reason. I feel that somehow, she wants to check that he wants to know because he is just curious or he wants to reach her. But she and him are not close enough she can share problem that is making her suffer until now yet. So I think her question is like… AT-field again.

But you know, if Hachiman is not quiet and still insist to know what is in her mind, although she might not be ready to tell him, but I think at least she will be surprised and might be… feel better a bit. But for now, he is not ready to cross that line. And when she saw his reaction, maybe it’s just me again, but I feel she is disappointed in his guts a bit, because she confirms that he is just curious only, doesn’t want to reach her at all. Also I feel her dissatisfaction a bit, because I feel that the last remark from her is like soft jab to me. It’s like… he just did something bad manner to her so she jabs him back.

“I guess that’s not something to ask then, hm?”
Her voice was freezing. Even if she tried to hide it or play it off, I think this was probably the actual coldness of Yukinoshita Haruno.

If AT-field of Haruno is exist, you can see she is not talkative anymore, just quiet.

So this is what happened in LN v6 but I still have many things to write since you would know that there are more events in the School Cultural Festival. To this point, Haruno’s secret plan is running smoothly but it didn’t show the progress much. If her plan goes well, it will bring that ending she is expecting. However, we know that everything is not easy, life is not easy like she thinks. So if you want to know what happened after this point, I will launch the The Last Part for you. With these 2 parts will cover what happened in the School Cultural Festival (via Haruno’s point of view). So…
