In celebration LN v12 will come to us in April, let me feed you with lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng analysis to kill time, while we are waiting for miracle to descend to us! Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. Analysis focuses on the feelings and thoughts of the character, Yukinoshita Haruno(雪ノ下 陽乃) toward her younger sister, Yukinoshita Yukino (雪ノ下 雪乃). that happens in LN v5.
Like I mentioned in Oregairu analysis – “Before” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino. In this post, I called it “the first phase”, and I collected clues relate to Yukinoshita sisters, Haruno and Yukino in LN v1-4. To let you know that the author tell us their feelings and thoughts, some clues let us know their pasts and timeline. If you didn’t read this post yet, I recommend to read this first, before read my analysis below that will explain Haruno’s thoughts and feelings toward her sister in LN v5.
This post is “the second phase” that I will explain about Haruno’s determination to help Yukino, with all clues I found. Also the true meaning of her opinion when she is talking with Hikigaya Hachiman (比企谷 八幡) and Yuigahama Yui (由比ヶ浜 結衣) that…
“…Yukino-chan wasn’t chosen again, huh?”
- Please read Attention page first, to let you understand that my all analysis are not 100% right.
- Spoiler alert!! And I recommend you to read/watch Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. (やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。), Oregairu (俺ガイル) LN/anime/manga Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru. -Monologue- (やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。-妄言録-) and manga @Comic before proceed.
Opinions from neighbors about Yukino.
Before I will dive into Haruno’s story, I will tell you this LN v5 is very interesting and worthwhile to own it. It can be read to kill time, but I notice this v5 has many valuable info that will not appear in anime. After I read c7, the author concluded opinions of many characters about Yukino. So I will do the same but expand it and write my own conclusion.
Before the firework festival, the author used many characters (I will not include Hachiman because he gives us opinions about Yukino all time in v1-11) to give us their opinion about Yukino. Their opinions are almost similar and interesting. I might collect them all but let’s see.
ps. In this point, I used reference from LN only.
- Yuigahama – In c1, she is worried about Yukino, because she can’t contact her. It appears she replies mail very late. When Yuigahama invites her to go hang out, she can’t go because she is very busy.
- Kawasaki Saki (川崎 沙希) – In c2, while she and Hachiman are going to the restaurant, she thinks it’s really hard to approach Yukino.
- Kawasaki Taishi (川崎 大志) – In c2, he tells Hachiman that Yukino is super beautiful but he agrees with him that he would not get along with someone like her because she’s kinda scary.
- Zaimokusa Yoshiteru (材木座 義輝) – In c3, he mentions that the movie he watched earlier is not scary at all, compares to “that person who must not be named”. He doesn’t mention her/his name but Hachiman and Totsuka Saika (戸塚 彩加 ) think the same that the person Zaimokusa is scared is…Yukino.
- Totsuka – In c3, he mentions that maybe because Yukino is always so serious and earnest that she seems scary.
- Hiratsuka Shizuka (平塚 静) – In c 4, she agrees with Hachiman that Yukinoshita sisters are different from each other. But she says Yukino doesn’t need to be like Haruno, she should just be herself and work on her good points (kind and correct).
- Hikigaya Komachi (比企谷 小町) – In c5, I assume that after Komachi heard from Yuigahama worried about Yukino in c1, she started worrying too and asks her brother how Yukino feels when she is living alone. After heard that, Hachiman thinks his sister wants to say even Yukino felt some kind of loneliness in her life.
Conclusion: With all these opinions about Yukino, makes me think this v5 focused on her a lot. Although she appears in c8 only, I feel that in LN v5, the presentation of this character is the lowest but the mention is the maximum. Opinions from many characters above are not different much. But I notice…
- Some people think it’s hard to approach her and she is scary, the result of that makes some people will not or can’t approach her.
- She is the girl who people will not forget once they meet her.
- However, some people like Yuigahama, Hiratsuka-sensei, Komachi, notice something off about her. Each one has different reason but I notice they feel the same. they are worried about Yukino.
I notice the author used characters above as the representatives to tell us about Yukino more.
Nevertheless, there’s another one who is worried about Yukino. And probably worried about her the most.
Opinions from neighbors about Haruno.
- Hiratsuka-sensei and Hachiman – In c 4, she tells him about Haruno a lot. Her grades were at the top and can finish anything that was thrown at her. And with her appearances, boys in the school, saw her as the goddess. However, exceptional student in regards to her grades. She was noisy, her uniform was a mess. She can be founded at festivals like she was gallivanting around. But that’s also the reason why she had many friends. All of these also her appearance. This is Haruno’s charming points.
People who notice her appearance will think fondly of her conniving and determined nature (charismatic). Hiratsuka-sensei tells him more when Haruno is the Planning Committee Chairperson for the Cultural Festival, they had the biggest student turnout. Everyone even the faculty got involved.
Hiratsuka-sensei’s talk this time, makes me notice how different apperance between Haruno and Yukino. Haruno’s charm is like magnet that will pull people to her. Yukino’s charm is like the beautiful flower people can’t touch.
- Komachi and Hachiman – In c5, after Komachi asks Hachiman about Yukino because she is worried about her because even Yukino would be lonely if she lives alone, she tells Hachiman more that even the side that gets left behind would feel lonely too. In this c5, it shows how Komachi is worried if her brother leaves the house because she will be lonely. So if I look at Yukino’s case, if she leaves from her house and lives alone, she might feel lonely. However, the other side is not different. The other side that she left behind.
If my assumption is correct, “the other side” in Yukino’s case, might be “her family” or just “one person”. When the author points out that Komachi will be lonely if Hachiman leaves the house, I can see if the author wants to mirror the same situation with Yukinoshita sisters as well. So there’s no solid evidence, but I assume “the other side” means “a certain person”. If you look at the title of this analysis, you would who I mean and also realize the reason why that person wants to help Yukino.
The origin of superior and inferior
In c6, The first half of the conversation between Haruno and Hachiman is about how she needs to work and meets with high social people alone, and she is doing it for real. Meanwhile, she tells him and Yuigahama that Yukino needs to live in the house as their mother says, as the result, she will not be allowed to attend the event, especially, the same event her older sister is working. With their different situations, makes me think about the reason why Yukino feels inferior toward Haruno.
Because of their mother’s order, the oldest will get too much priority/work/responsibility, but the youngest will not get all of these as hoped, even the outsider like Hachiman and Yuigahama can notice. I don’t know it’s because different appearances between Yukinoshita sisters that makes their mother decide their roles like these, but I think it’s possible. And also the oldest will work, the younger doesn’t need to, might be the another reason. In the world, it’s normal that the older sister/brother will be teach by parents to work for family, while the younger sister/brother doesn’t need to do that much.
You can notice from families that have siblings like Hikigaya’s, Yukinoshita’s and Kawasaki’s (although in case of Hikigaya’s family, we can’t see it that much, because Komachi helps her brother and family by sharing some duty, but it’s because it’s her own will and her parents allow her to do it. Meanwhile in case of Kawasaki’s family, it seems the oldest will work almost every duties, I don’t know Taichi helps her or not, but I don’t see any info in LN that reveal he did that, while the youngest, Kawasaki Keika (川崎 彗香), doesn’t need to work because she is too young).
In case of Yukinoshita’s family, the chance Yukino can share priority/work/responsibility is not much because her mother’s decision. Like when Haruno tells Hachiman that…
Overemphasis toward a sister, means another one will not get that much. Compare Yukinoshita sisters like two glasses. The first glass was poured water until it overflow, but the faucet still pour water to it. The second glass also has water, but it comes from the drops from the faucet.
- When the one who doesn’t receive priority enough, and another one beside her, get these credits, s/he will feel they are not important, not be loved.
- While the one who get too much responsibilities, will feel exhausted, wonder people s/he trusts/loves, feel the same for real or not, or think s/he was tricked to work for the sake of other people, or it’s possible s/he thinks s/he is the slave.
Talk about trust and love, I wrote “Oregairu analysis – 3rd Memorandum: If so, just whose monologue was it?”. There will reveal how one of sisters of Yukinoshita family thinks and feels toward people she ever trust.
This is my assumption I think it is happening between Yukinoshita sisters, and it happened for a long time since they are still kids.
The reason why Haruno “invites” Hachiman and Yuigahama
In LN c6 or anime ss1 ep 9, I notice Haruno sees Hachiman and Yuigahama in the firework festival, but she decides to invite them to sit with her. At first, I think it’s because she is kind one. But when I think about this, it is weird to invite them. Because if Haruno is the high social, she should see they are alone so she should not interfere. However, she still calls them.
The first reason
So if my two analysis ” “Before” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino.” (at link above ↑) is collect, the situation when she needs to work alone in the event, is similar as the moment she is in the doughnut cafe (in LN v8/ anime Zoku ep 3). Whenever, she meets Hachiman, she is pleased to call him and hang out together.
And when she notices Hachiman is excited a bit because he was invited to VIP zone. To respond his reaction, she brags openly to explain to him about this place shortly.
The second reason
And the second reason lies in my analysis “Finally, Yukinoshita Haruno Launches Operation Fire Doughnut (part 2)” is collect about Haruno. In this c6, she interferes their business for understanding reason. I will not explain here any more, so you can go read that reason from this post. After you read this, you might get why she is j****** of him when she sees he and Yuigahama are together, and why she has cold expression and punishes him after he says he is not cheating.
That’s why although she invites both of them, it seems she talks with him more than Yuigahama, almost ignores her, and even never call her name collectedly.
The third reason
Maybe I’m wrong, but when I read this LN v5, I feel the author wants to pick out issue about “lonely”. So, I feel Haruno invites them because she is bored and lonely. If my assumption about Haruno gets too much priority/burden is correct, I think she is lonely and maybe exhausted from work alone a bit as her mother orders. With her cheerful appearance, we might never think she is tired from overwork and work alone.
Then, why do they not try to change it?
Yes, I wonder why. Why do Yukinoshita sisters not try to do as their mother says, if they don’t like her policy. In c6 or anime ss1 ep 9, I think it’s not easy to oppose or not obey their parents if they are elite. Even other families in other class, children don’t listen to their parents is wrong. Because parents are adult who have more experience than their children, and I think every children always are teach by adults to obey parents so they will be good people. So it’s not easy to not listen to parents. In some movie I watched, parents are like god for children. The connection between them are so clearly.
I think Yukinoshita sisters sees their mother’s image and feel that she is forceful and scary. And that would be true. She is like that. But that’s strong and scary image that their mother creates, is not different from image of other people, Yukino, Hachiman, Haruno and etc. People will believe in image they can see clearly. So I will say, the fear of Yukinoshita sisters, are what that happen in their heads only, Haruno and Yukino see their mother is like that all time, so it’s normal they are sure their mother is forceful and scary.
Time would be one of factor that make Yukinoshita sisters can’t resist their mother. Because they spend time with parents at the first day they are born.
So maybe someday (would be LN, the last one), I feel the author will always do the same, reveal the illusion of their mother so her daughters will see it, the true self of their mother, like the flower when it is blooming. But for now, because of their own fear, they can’t oppose their mother.
Carnation – means “love, fascination, distinction”, the official and common gift for the mother’s day. ♥
Pink – pink of carnation flower means “a mother’s love”. ♥
In my “Oregairu Analysis – And Then, Yukinoshita Haruno Launched Operation Fire Doughnut! (Part 5)”, about manipulation with this house is collect, I can understand why Haruno and Yukino can’t oppose their mother. Because their fear toward their mother that started when they are still kids.
In Yukino’s case, you can see her fear toward her mother clearly. Maybe it’s because she can’t hide or fake her feeling (like I mentioned in the “Oregairu Analysis – 1st Memorandum: Possible, It’s That Person’s Monologue.”).
But when I think about it, I feel it’s not her only. Haruno feels the same too. But people can’t notice it because her perfect mask. Although she is still smile, it doesn’t mean she is not afraid of her mother. I think she is the one who is terrified her mother more than Yukino. Why do I think like that? If you read Fire Doughnut part 5, you will know why I think like this.
Clues from Hiratsuka-sensei about Haruno is consistent why Haruno is so noisy, her uniform, likes to go hang out at the festivals, transform the school festival to the fullest. It’s possible she is enjoyed all of these for real. But I can’t abandon the possibility that she did all these to forget the burden/suffer because she can’t escape from her mother’s palm. The more flashy, the more she can forget about it. In the school she doesn’t need to be the perfect one. She can do and go what/where she wants (that’s why Hiratsuka-sensei is exhausted instead ||^ ^).
Yuigahama needs to do something.
Before the first firework will be launched, Yuigahama has something to ask Haruno too. But I think she waits until she can find good chance to start the conversation with her (since she never talks with Yukino’s older sister before (not include their introduction and small talk in LN v4)). That’s why after they watched the first firework and Haruno changes her pose, I think finally Yuigahama finds this is the chance to get attention from Haruno.
However, from Haruno’s reaction, Haruno blinks her large eyes at her, I think she pretends to be surprised when Yuigahama calls her.
However, if my assumption about Haruno’s negative feeling toward Yuigahama (in LN v4) is correct, I can see it is still there in this v5. Her pretense happens again by acting like she can’t remember Yuigahama’s name well. This trick works, Yuigahama fixes this error and Haruno acknowledges it. However, I think Yuigahama doesn’t realize this is a trick from Haruno. With this trick, she doesn’t need to call Yuigahama’s name. Because if I append Haruno’s negative feeling toward Yuigahama in LN v4 together with this issue, I will say she doesn’t want to call her name properly. It’s one of Haruno’s style to not call name collectedly if she feels… toward that person.
If you wonder what feeling of Haruno if she doesn’t call name collectedly, I wrote Haruno’s style to not call name of people who she doesn’t like already. You can proceed in “Oregairu Analysis – And Then, Yukinoshita Haruno Launched Operation Fire Doughnut! (Part 3)” for more info.
However, Haruno’s trick awakes Hachiman’s doubtfulness. He is curious why she can’t remember Yuigahama’s name in spite of her high spec intelligence. So he wants to observe why she did something like that. But his observation is interfered by Haruno herself.
In anime ss1 ep9 and manga -Monologue-, Haruno doesn’t show her smile to Hachiman. But in LN v5, there’s image that show she is smiling when she looks at Hachiman and uses her fan, like she wants to hide her true intention from him by showing charming smile like that. Hachiman doesn’t get why she pretends not to remember Yuigahama’s name and she catches his intention to observe her. That’s why he is scared in her doing and that beautiful smile. I think Haruno knows him well.
Talk about Haruno knows him well about his observation skill, I think she realizes this in the first meeting with him in LN v3. If you want to know how she observes him, you can read in “Oregairu Analysis – When Yukinoshita Haruno Also Gazes into Hachiman.”
Yuigahama’s worried and Yukino’s situation
I mentioned about Yuigahama’s worried about Yukino because she can’t contact her and can’t meet her. So when she meets Haruno, I think she might hope to meet Yukino too, but it seems she is not there. So she wants some info from Haruno instead. When Haruno tells her that Yukino would live in the house right now (eh? So it means she doesn’t meet her sister although they live in the house?). It’s her job as the oldest daughter, to work in public events. It’s her mother’s decision on a long time ago.
With Haruno’s answer, it seems Yuigahama is disappointed she can’t meet Yukino until the school begins. But now we know Yukino’s situation. I think Haruno understands Yukino’s condition for a long time, but can’t do anything since this is their mother’s order. it seems she and Yukino have no any intention to oppose her mother. I think she uses the word “wish” to make it soften, and it seems she accepts her destiny by saying it’s easier to understand her mother’s policy. I assume that if she can’t escape from this destiny, at least she can console herself more of less, by finding some good reason.
After Yuigahama asks Haruno if Yukino can’t come to the festival, that although Haruno is smiling but we can see how Haruno feel worried after she heard Yuigahama’s question. I think it’s possible Haruno also wants her sister to come too, but the almighty one will not allow it. So after she talks with Yuigahama, at least she can tell them the reason why Yuigahama’s wish is impossible. She tells them that her mother is very scary and forceful.
Hachiman is surprised so he asks if her that her mother is more scary than Yukino. But it seems Haruno disagree and laughs because she can’t believe his opinion. She whispers to him to repeat that her mother is more scary than herself. I think I get why Haruno thinks Yukino is not scary like Hachiman thinks, but she thinks her mother is more scary than herself. Because the one who can decide her destiny, her own life 100%, is the one she should feel scared.
She adds more that her mother always decides everything and makes people obey her, so they need to adjust as she wishes. And Yukino is a little poor at that.
I think Haruno is skillful in answer expectation like Hayama Hayato (葉山 隼人) (judge from info that Hiratsuka-sensei told Hachiman earlier, she can finish anything that was thrown at her), Although it seems she doesn’t want to follow her mother’s policy, but with her fear toward the one who decided everything in her own life for a long time, she has no choice but obey. While Yukino can’t answer her mother’s expectation like Haruno. I think Hiratsuka-sensei’s opinion about Yukino earlier, that she is correct and kind, might give us the answer why she can’t adjust like her mother wishes. If you ask me, she can’t fake to be the perfect one.
They think the same.
With these info above, although the one can adjust, the another one can’t, Yukinoshita sisters got the same conclusion. They ended up accept their destiny (let her mother decide their own life). Even Haruno tells Hachiman and Yuigahama over and over that she and Yukino understand their mother so they are just keeping the peace.
I think Haruno tries to say like that to soften their bitter destiny. If I translate her reason above, it will be “they can’t resist their mother because they are too scared to do that, and ended up accept the truth that they can’t do anything but follow their mother.”
I don’t know what Hachiman feels when he gives opinion about them after he heard Haruno’s soft and good reason like that, but if you ask me, the destiny of Yukinoshita sisters is kinda… tediously/tiresomely for him.
And I don’t know more about Haruno’s feeling, after she heard his opinion, in spite of her soft and good reason she gave him. But if you ask me again, it seems she doesn’t want to hear comment that makes her feel disconcerted, and that comment is relate to her directly. However, she still maintain her social smile because she can’t do anything but do that. If someone gives negative opinion about you, sometimes you MUST maintain your smile and will not express “your bitter feeling” to that person. Moreover, she turns and speaks with Yuigahama instead, to avoid this issue they are talking right now.
Why does Haruno observe “her rival”?
don’t believe you.
Haruno asks Yuigahama if she interferes their date, and says sorry for her. I assume Haruno doesn’t feel sorry for her interfering after all, because like I wrote the third reasons why she invites them, so I think she intends to interfere them from the beginning. And if she asks Yuigahama like this, she can observe her reaction (but I’m not sure she wants to check Hachiman’s reaction too or not, but if his expression changes, she would catch it too) to…
- find out how Yuigahama feels.
- or to check they are dating for real or not.
- Or both.
Well, if you read this LN v5 already, you will see Yuigahama jerks and feels embarrassed, these clear reaction never sneak from Haruno’s eagle eye. So she finally know Yuigahama’s feeling toward Hachiman that she started getting wind of it in LN v4.
But why do I write Haruno observe her rival? My conclusion comes from Haruno’s negative feeling toward Yuigahama I wrote in the first phase, you can check it out in “Before Haruno decides to help Yukino” post at link above ↑. And the another reason comes from when I see via Haruno’s point of view. Let you imagine when Haruno sees Hachiman and Yuigahama are alone together in the firework festival. If my assumption about Haruno’s negative feeling toward this girl in LN v4 is correct, imagine how Haruno feels when she sees “the one she is looking for” (that Hayama mentioned earlier in LN v4), and the girl who she doesn’t… because that girl jerked/took Hachiman away from her (in LN v4), are alone together…
If you are curious about the one she is looking for that Hayama mentioned in LN v4, you can read in “Oregairu Analysis – Finally, “Y” in Hayama Hayato’s Heart Was Revealed”.
If my assumptions are collect, you will see how Haruno feels when she whispers to Hachiman that
“In any case… Having an affair isn’t very admirable, you know.”
“No, it’s not even an affair…” I answered.
When I answered, the warmth of Haruno-san’s expression froze over. “So you’re serious…? All the more reason why I can’t forgive you even more.”
Haruno’s j****** feeling is rising when she saw them are alone together, makes she is upset enough, but when she hears his answer this is not affair, his words makes she feels upset more and ends up with punishment, well, you know what punishment he gets, don’t you? I think Haruno is not different from other characters who has emotions and feelings.
And now, it’s time to reveal something that is very important.
The true meaning of Haruno’s remark
Like I promised in the first phase of this analysis that I will reveal the true meaning of Haruno’s remark…
Let me say something before starting analyzing this legendary words of Haruno. If you have LN v5, you can open the page that these words lie in. I notice this remark is written on every other line. These words is pasted from other lines intentionally. And if I’m not wrong, in this c6, this is the only one remark that is written on every other line. So it means Haruno’s remark this point is very important, or has hidden meaning that sifts from her heart.
This is what I “thought” in Haruno’s remark
Previously, when I read Haruno’s remark, I understood that she wants to say if Hachiman and Yuigahama are dating, it means Yukino would not be chosen again. So what I thought next is, maybe in the past, Yukino might not be chosen because didn’t choose her, did he? When I think Haruno means Hachiman in this time, so it means “a certain boy” didn’t choose Yukino as the girlfriend. And when my assumption comes to this point, I could only think the character who is suitable for this position, is that person, Hayama Hayato.
Hayama is Yukino’s childhood friend (Yukino mentioned in LN v4). The only boy who is related to her life (not include boys in school) until she attends Sobu. So my assumption is, in the past, Yukino wasn’t chosen by Hayama. This is what I “thought”. Also I read my opinions from communities and some people thought like me, about Yukino has feeling for Hayama. And some people thought Hayama doesn’t choose her because he likes another Yukinoshita, Haruno-nee san/chan. And I thought these assumptions are reasonable.
My new assumption about Haruno’s remark
My old assumption above is what I believe it’s the truth.
From my experience when I misunderstood about trying to look for who is the owner of the third memorandum in LN v10, this is just my personal opinion, but I think the author of this story never make his work is easy to understand. If you read my analysis in the third memorandum, you might read about my misunderstanding. The author made me understood something that is easy to understand. But after I tried hard to know the meaning of Shepherd, it appears that it’s high possible that I misunderstood.
ps. For anyone don’t know what I wrote about my misunderstanding, you can read in “”Oregairu analysis – 3rd Memorandum: If so, just whose monologue was it?” “ (as always, link is above ↑).
I started to think that in LN v5, I misunderstood again, in this Haruno’s remark. I realized it’s like that after I read LN v5 over and over I don’t know how much. And that’s why I wrote in extremely long posts, to tell you that maybe we can misunderstand in this author if we just see short conversation/words only. The reason I TL the meaning of Haruno’s remark and it’s wrong, it’s because I just see the conversation between Haruno and Yuigahama only. Because when Haruno asks Yuigahama if they are dating, this conversation made me thought Haruno is telling Yukino would not be chosen by Hachiman (because he and Yuigahama are dating).
Like I wrote earlier, this LN v5 focused on Yukino. Not just opinion about her from other characters only, v5 makes me see
- the strong AT field because of scary aura in Yukino, when she has interaction with other people.
- Some character makes me see “lonely” issue of Yukino, and the side that is left behind.
- Some character makes me realize “the correctness” of Yukino.
All of these, and all clues the first phase of this analysis I collected in LN v1-5, reflects “the big problem” of her, and the source of the problem, is her mother. And a certain character who knows her well, is Haruno. She tells Hachiman and Yuigahama many things about…
- Their mother is the absolute one, she decided roles of her daughters.
- Haruno MUST work alone. Yukino MUST live in the house.
- Their mother is forceful and scary.
- They understand about that and adjust as the almighty one wishes.
And we know Yukino lives alone outside from her family. So I will include Komachi’s opinion toward Yukino about Yukino would feel lonely and also the other side she left would feel the same.
I assume that with the correctness of Yukino that can’t go along well with her mother’s policy (that Haruno mentioned), makes she decided to escape from the one who tried to force her to do as she wishes. Yukino is not someone who can makes cheerful mask like her sister, who can do it. The perfect/social mask will bend the correctness of Yukino. It also means her mother isn’t satisfied when Yukino can’t do as she wishes. I think Yukino herself would realize that she is failure.
Moreover, overemphasis toward Haruno and the opposite toward Yukino I mentioned earlier, is one of reason Yukino feels inferior toward Haruno. This unbalance situation might make Yukino think she is not important. Her sister is important/perfect. We can see Yukino always compare herself with Haruno (in LN v6).
Just like what Hiratsuka-sensei tells Hachiman in LN v9 (or anime Zoku ep8, manga -Monologue- v8,9 I forgot). From Oregairu until now, you might know already that it is painful for Yukino about Haruno’s existing, it’s painful for Haruno too that her sister run away from the house and her perfect existence is one of reasons. Both of them are aware of this or not, I don’t know, but I can feel they are feeling like that, until now.
With Yukino’s reaction every time when she heard “mom”, makes me feel she is afraid of her mother. And when Haruno tells Hachiman over and over that her mother is scary, makes me think she also is afraid of her mother as well. Also I conclude this from the truth that Haruno and Yukino never resist their mother after all.
Thats’ why Yukino lives alone as the result. She can’t resist her mother but can’t stand to live in the place that refuse her existence and emphasize that she is failure or not important/perfect like her sister. This result makes everyone in the house shock. But please don’t forget Komachi’s opinion about “lonely” too. Her hint makes me think Haruno is not shock only. Maybe, just maybe she feels lonely after her sister left them, left her. And this is not the first time Yukino left her family. Remember when she studied abroad after the bulling incident that happened in her late elementary period or not? I think Haruno felt lonely for the first time back then. And this is the second time.
In this point, I write all of these to want you to see how Haruno feels toward her sister. And please don’t forget I will reveal the true meaning of her remark. But maybe, I think you get it already.
Maybe, Haruno doesn’t mean that Yukino will not be chosen by Hachiman.
Maybe, she doesn’t mean that Yukino was not chosen before, by Hayama.
Or the truth is – Haruno wishes Yukino she lost back.
When Haruno says Yukino was not chosen, I think she means her mother never give Yukino important role/duty like Haruno got. If their mother give precedence to her a bit, she would feel even she is important, not the failure she might think repeatedly. If Yukino changes attitude (like Hiratsuka-sensei told Hachiman she should just be herself and works on her good points), Yukino would not leave her again like she always did whenever she finds the chance.
If my lonnnnng assumptions are collect, I will conclude that Haruno feels lonely because she gets left behind by Yukino (twice). This is the true meaning in Haruno’s remark.
But there is a question.
Yes, above is my new assumption about the meaning of Haruno’s remark. But there’s one conflict, and that comes from Haruno’s words after she sees Yuigahama feels embarrassed when she asks her if this is a date.
“Ohh… a little suspicious if you’re getting that embarrassed. But if it really is a date…”
“…Yukino-chan wasn’t chosen again, huh?”
Why does Haruno think if Hachiman and Yuigahama is dating for real, Yukino will not be chosen? Does she wish Yukino to has someone who can be her boyfriend? Well, if I still believe in my old assumption, I would it’s possible Haruno wishes her sister to be happy. But with my new assumption above, Haruno might not wishes like that.
I feel that Haruno would not have hope that her family will make Yukino happy anymore, since their mother is forceful and scary, even she herself doesn’t see the solution to change the situation within the family because she also is afraid of her too. So at least, outside the family might has some hope for Yukino. Hachiman is different from other normalf ..umm I mean other people. And Yukino ever go hang out with him (in LN v3) before.
So it seems Yukino would go along with him. And Haruno hopes he can be good friend of her, since as the older sister, she would know well Yukino has friend or not. So seeing her sister is hanging out with other people is so surprising, like she mentioned in v3. I don’t know Haruno lays one’s hope on Yuigahama too or not since she met her twice only, but when I see her doubted Yuigahama when she introduced herself she is “Yukino’s friend”, I will say she doesn’t trust this girl.
Conclusion: Maybe Haruno hopes Hachiman will be good friend with her sister.
But if Hachiman and Yuigahama are going out, it’s impossible he will be friend with Yukino since he should give precedence to Yuigahama more than her sister.
- If he gives precedence to Yukino, the supreme beauty in the Sobu, a certain girl will feel jealous and ends up with bad end instead, for Hachiman and Yukino. ⊗
- So if he can’t give precedence to Yukino if he is dating with Yuighama, the good friend of Yukino (in Haruno’s hope) will become just Haruno’s imagination only. ⊗
This is my answer about Haruno’s thoughts toward Yukino, when she says as dialogue above.↑ And the reason why her eyes are dark more than the night sky, when she murmurs that remark.
Haruno doesn’t want anyone to knows.
After Haruno murmurs words like that, I feel that she just murmurs to herself only, found the conclusion for Yukino only. She doesn’t talk with anyone when she murmurs this conclusion. So you can see she pretends by using the cheerful mask like usual to hide what happened just now.
However, since Hachiman and Yuigahama are sitting near her, so they hears her dialogues just now as well. Yuigahama who was asked by Haruno earlier, would not understand what Haruno means, about Yukino will not be chosen if she and Hachiman are dating. Her doubtfulness makes her decides to ask Haruno. But like I mentioned just now, Haruno wears the cheerful mask, to hide what happened, so when Yuigahama is going to ask, Haruno pretends she is watching the fireworks just now and asks Yuigahama back what’s that?. With the cheerful mask of Haruno, Yuigahama can’t ask more than that because Haruno doesn’t allow her to invade more than that.
Finally, as Haruno expected, Yuigahama retreats. However, Haruno still pretend she is paying attention to the fireworks, and admiring them. One down. But please don’t forget there’s another one who heard her murmur just now as well, Hachiman! I don’t know Haruno realizes Hachiman wants to ask what she means too or not, but it’s possible that she continues to admire the fireworks attentively because she is afraid of him asking her about what she means. But if she did for that reason, I would say she overestimates him, because he is the type who likes observing more than asking directly.
But what Haruno doesn’t allow to happen, is going to happen. Because if you see via Haruno’s point of view, Hachiman calls her name “Yukinoshita-san” to start talking. In order to defend, she doesn’t miss to use whatever she can use. When he calls her name, she hurries to catch “calling her name” and utilize it, by making options that makes him forget about what she said just now completely. You can see she offers him to call her, “Haruno” or “onee-chan”, also even recommend the second option (What!?).
With unbelievable joke like this, even Hachiman can be speechless, what he can do is just let out a dry laugh. Like he thought when he called her name that he should call her with family name because they are not close enough to call her first name. Let alone he can call her, Haruno ♥ or onee-chan ♥, it’s impossible for a young boy to call the adult like that. So to this point, I will divide two side so you will know the situation via point of view of two people, he and she.
Take 1: Via Hachiman’s point of view
When he is still persistent to call her family name like just now, you would see Haruno tells him that
“Haha, oh you’re so stubborn. How cute.”
If you see via his point of view, you would think Haruno comments about he is stubborn because he will not call her name as she offered. That makes him feels upset a bit because it’s very hard to talk with this person.
Take 2: Via Haruno’s point of view
Return to Haruno’s side, if you see from her point of view, you will see the reason why she comments him that he is so stubborn. With the effective technique she used earlier about two options to call her name, she really hopes this will work. But if you see via her point of view, you would know it doesn’t. He has high stamina or something. He still tries to talk with her although was casted by Oblivi@te spell.
Moreover, when she comments he is so stubborn, and also adds he is cute, I feel she doesn’t think he is cute or something. But praising in positive way would make her opinion soften.
It appears that Haruno surrender, but she still win. Why? Because he doesn’t ask her about what she means about Yukino was not chosen.
Then, what did Hachiman want to ask for real?
It appears that after the Oblivi@te spell Haruno casted Hachiman, he still asks her some question, but completely different issue. He asks her if she is graduated from Sobu high school. But something bothers me. Now what?
If I am not interested in Hachiman’s thought, I would think he wants to ask Haruno about where she is graduated from the beginning. Although she casts spell, he still wants to ask her about this. But after I reviewed “his thoughts”, I think maybe Haruno’s spell would work for real.
Why do I think Haruno’s spell is work.
Before He is going to ask her for the first round, he thought…
Although they resembled each other on their surface, deep down, they were different. But something about the two sisters felt as if they were both looking somewhere in the same direction. I thought that was a little strange.
I think the reason why He wants to ask something to Haruno, because he is interested/curious in Yukinoshita sisters (and I don’t mean about love stuff). Because if you still don’t forget, she is talking about herself, Yukino and they try to follow their mother’s policy. So I think it’s possible that he wants to ask Haruno about something that is relate to this, more than ask where she is graduated.
But after he was casted by Haruno’s spell, also her comment made him speechless and felt upset, because it’s hard to talk with her, “his thoughts” changed.
People who were barely older than you were the scariest. The age disparity with someone like Hiratsuka-sensei was another matter entirely since I could see her as a proper adult, but when it’s someone who’s only about two to three years older, they just seemed culturally different somehow.
When he is upset and numb because it’s hard to talk with adult like her who is barely older than him, makes him think of Hiratsuka-sensei instead. And I suspect that he is recalling when he talked with her in LN v5 c 4. Why do I think he recalls to that time? Because sensei is the one who told him that Haruno is graduated from Sobu, also the time she is graduated. So it’s weird for me, he still asks Haruno where she is graduated although he know about that already. To confirm his info from sensei? I don’t think so. I never see him ask info from other source to make sure his info he got is right before.
So it’s possible that Hachiman’s thoughts was adjusted, and it appears that even he himself doesn’t realize it either. Haruno’s spell is effective. Because I look in his thoughts that are completely different. However, if I watch anime ss1 ep9 or manga -Monologue- only, I would not notice about this.
But Haruno still cast it.
Case closed! So whatever, Hachiman asks Haruno if she is graduated from Sobu. When he asks this, I feel Haruno relaxes because she doesn’t try to wear the cheerful mask or deflects their attentions anymore, or should I say, she relieves he doesn’t ask her about her remark. After Yuigahama asks her if she is twenty years old, she edits she is still 19. Moreover, she offers calling her “Haruno” or even “Harunon”♥. Maybe she aims to be the magician. Maybe she wants to tease them. Maybe she can’t stop this joke because it’s fun. Maybe she wants them stop calling her with her family name, but her first name instead.
Another bitter truth of her
When Yuigahama asks Haruno if she is the university student, Haruno answers she goes to a nearby national university for sciences and technology. However, she adds more that she wants to go somewhere better, but her parents told me otherwise. Yuigahama looks surprise out of admiration but Haruno’s smile is slightly complicating.
This info this time might not be noticeable, but I think this is not too difficult to understand. I feel Haruno doesn’t want study there (because she says she wants to go somewhere better), or even the faculty she is studying right now, is not what she chose. But judge from Yuigahama’s reaction, the faculty and place she goes, is not what anyone can go so easily although they want. But that doesn’t make Haruno is so proud in what she achieved, because this is also …what her parents decided for her.
Silent B*mb from Yuigahama
After Yuigahama knows Yukino’s sister goes to the sciences and technology, she asks Haruno…
“Oh, but, but, both of you sisters are doing the sciences, huh?”
Yuigahama’s remark makes Haruno slow her movement and be silent. It’s not too hard to know that she is surprising. But maybe it’s more than that. Just small info Haruno got from Yuigahama + she knows Yukino tries to follow her step in the past, the conclusion Haruno gets is Yukino is aiming for a national or public university for the sciences, Yukino’s path is the same as her. I feel that this truth impacts her a lot. Why is it like that?
She might lose “the precious one” again.
As you know Yukino lives alone and that surprised her family. It’s possible that Haruno thinks in positively that her sister who has such determination to ask her father although she never ask anything. So although the side that got left behind like her will be lonely, she can hope Yukino will not follow her step by step anymore, because the decision to live alone of Yukino, is what she decided by her own will.
But after hearing Yuigahama’s info that her sister is aiming for the science, Haruno realizes she is wrong. Yukino doesn’t change from back then. She misunderstood that Yukino will find her own path if she lives alone, escape from the family that try to change her. But it appears that she just wants to escape from the family she hates only, but something is still the same.
Yukino’s illusion that was implanted by the ideal of their family/mother that wish their daughters to be the perfect and can answer their expectation, also the perfect being like Haruno beside her. Yukino’s deflation and eclipse in the past, because of two factors I mentioned, transformed into the illusion. The illusion or belief that following Haruno’s step is correct. Haruno becomes the slave of their family already, but Yukino followed her, even right now she still do it. She has no problem to train every skills Haruno trained (general cooking, laundry, house work, aikido, and horse riding). And right now she is going to aiming for the science. This decision will decide the way of life in education from now on, also her occupation in the future.
Yukino’s decision might be good because it’s possible she likes science, but judge from Haruno’s fear, it’s possible that she is thinking about the result of this decision. Haruno would realize that Yukino lacks her own will because of two factors above. If Yukino still continue to follow her step like this, her life will be meaningless and she will regret in what she chose. And Haruno’s wish to get “the precious one” back again, might become the bubbles.
Her smile is one of ridicule for real?
I’m not sure Haruno’s smile after she heard info from Yuigahama and after she concluded Yukino’s goal in education is a national or public university for the sciences, is one of ridicule like Hachiman thinks or not. Let see…
In case Haruno ridicules in what Yukino wants to choose for real, then it means…
- she is looking down upon her sister and her goal, like Hachiman comments.
- or she ridicules in the lamentable destiny of her sister.
If no, it means maybe Hachiman misunderstands about her smile. He misinterprets the meaning of her smile that time. If my assumptions until this point are right, after Haruno knows Yukino is aiming for the same path she was forced to choose, she doesn’t feel alright at all if Yukino follows her like this. Haruno’s smile might be the expression that presents her own suffering toward her beloved sister. The sorrow, the feeling that makes her wants to cry and laugh, not laugh to ridicule, but laugh for the truth why her sister imitating her, the twisted belief by their family that they must be like their family expect, by taking her as the model.
To this point, I don’t know Haruno feels guilty or not because she is the first victim, and/or just her perfect existence makes her sister suffers. I hope not. But I can’t deny her expression above.
It’s possible for Yes or no, but you might realize I choose no.
The most possible future – The desolation
If my assumption about Haruno is lonely because Yukino left her, and she wishes her sister to come back to her, is right, Haruno’s wish would become the despair instead, if Yukino is going to follow her step. The most possible ending that are waiting for both of them, will be the desolation.
The one will be lonely because she doesn’t want to be in anguish.
Another one will be lonely because the precious one leaves her behind.
But someone is misunderstanding about Haruno.
I don’t know my assumption above is right or not, but I can feel Haruno is so distressed for sure. Because this time, she doesn’t even try to hide her remark anymore. But it seems there’s one person who is misunderstanding in her remarks.
“She’s no different from back then, huh…? Always trying to match with me, always trying to take after me…”
From Yuigahama’s shaking hands, I think Yuigahama can’t stand Haruno’s opinion like that. Because Haruno says as if Yukino is aiming for the same path as her, in order to match and take after her. I think Yuigahama misunderstands because she interprets Haruno’s remarks in word by word. Haruno’s words this time can make other people misunderstand so easily, and Yuigahama is one of that. Yuigahama sees Yukino as her close friend, so when someone is bad-mouthing her, she would not stand it, although that person is the older sister of her friend. So Yuigahama questions her.
True or Lie?
“…Haruno-san… do you not get along with Yukinon?”
I don’t know Yuigahama wants to they get along with or not, or wants to know their hidden feelings like they are hate each other. But if this is Yuigahama, who always maintains the status quo and probably knows circumstance, I don’t think she, the younger, will ask the adult (especially, the older sister of her friend) bluntly like that. So I will guess she wants to know their hidden feelings. But if she wants to know their feelings, it’s no way she will ask bluntly like “Do you hate each other?” for sure.
However, even if what Yuigahama wants to know, she is asking something personal.
From Haruno’s point of view, she was asked directly if she gets along with her sister. I think it’s no way Haruno will say “yes” to her anyway. But does she tell her a lie or the truth? To this point, I don’t know Haruno realizes what Yuigahama wants to know so she questions her like that, but I assume she is the smart one and lives in the high society, so it’s possible she knows why Yuigahama asks her with that question. She can conclude that, Yuigahama wonder they hate each other or not.
With all Oregairu analysis I wrote, you would know I bet Haruno cares for Yukino for sure, but what about Yukino? She hates her sister or not? For this question, Oregairu analysis – ” “Before” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino.” (at link above ↑) might help you find the answer. If you read at Yukino’s feeling toward other siblings, you will find the answer.
However, I’m not sure Haruno thinks her sister hates her or not. But it’s high possible that she thinks Yukino hates her (judge from cool mint aura every time they meet and the truth that Yukino left her (and family) two times), and when you read LN v8 (anime Zoku ep3/manga -Monologue- v7), she tells Hachiman in the doughnut cafe that her sister hates them (her and family). So I will say that Haruno thinks her sister hates her. But although her answer for Yuigahama’s blunt question is “Yes”, I don’t see why she must be honest and says what’s in her mind. What about you? If you are Haruno, what will you answer?
That’s why Haruno refuses, with what’s opposite on her mind. But I don’t know she is answering Yuigahama’s question or emphasize with herself.
This time, Hachiman is negative about Haruno.
After Haruno denied Yuigahama’s indictment in form of question, she adds more that…
“How could I not find my little sister cute when she’s always chasing after me?”
I think Hachiman is negative about Haruno with many reasons…
- He is cynical from the beginning.
- Before, he feels uncomfortable when he sits next to her, because her “more-than-perfect front” and “something darker was swirling inside of her”. With these factors makes him can’t calm down to be near her because he thinks she has dark element. (oot, but if you are curious what I mean about dark element of Haruno, you can see her card in game “Divine Gate”).
- He thinks she is ridiculing Yukino when he sees “her smile”.
- When he listens to her remarks that makes people misunderstand her true feeling when she says something like that.
All of these, might be factors he interprets her intention in negative way. You can see when he interprets the meaning of “always chasing after her” in negative way. And this time, he thinks Haruno is ridiculing her sister, pities her.
But what about Haruno?
- Maybe Haruno might be ridiculing and pities Yukino, like Hachiman thinks.
- Or she is sarcastic only.
- Or she feels like that for real.
To this point, I don’t know, but I feel there’s something mix in her words this time. She would see her sister cute when she always chase after her, wants to be like her, and even admire her. I guess Haruno is pleased when her beloved sister sees her as the model. But maybe she isn’t pleased if Yukino follows her with her twist belief because of their family. Haruno sees her sister adorable to see her good enough to be her goal/model, but she would not be pleased if her sister tried to copy her because of their family wish they must be perfect.
But this time, Haruno tells them just that, and not more. So that’s why Hachiman can’t understand her and is negative about her.
Like I wrote earlier, Yuigahama asks Haruno because she might want to know her feeling toward her sister. But for the one who was asked with this personal question bluntly like that, would think Yuigahama is accusing her. So she asks Yuigahama how she feel toward her sister. I think Yuigahama might not know how Haruno feels when she asked her, but this time, even she is confused in Haruno’s direct question.
However, after she heard Yuigahama’s answer, I feel even she would not expect to hear Yuigahama is fond of her sister so much like that. I guess she, as the sister who cares for Yukino, is happy that someone likes her sister. But from her expression Hachiman observes that it’s affectionate, I assume she recalls when Yukino suffered from “people who liked her” in the past, when I say people, maybe this includes “girls” who ever liked her sister. I feel Haruno hates those people who hurt her sister, just because they felt jealous her sister. And she realizes that Yuigahama’s comment is not different from what people who ever liked/admire Yukino, felt.
This is just my opinion, but if Yukino never suffered by “people who liked her” in the past, I think Haruno and Yuigahama might get along with each other (and even found Yukino club, kidding).
“That’s what everyone says at first. But they all end up doing the same thing. They get jealous of Yukino-chan, hate her, reject her, and then start ostracizing her… I hope that you’ll be different from them.”
I think Haruno’s hatred after she recalled those dark memories, is devastating when she talking with Yuigahama. I can see she doesn’t trust in Yuigahama because Yukino’s experience back then, makes Haruno will not trust in people who likes or admires her sister so easily, just like analysis I wrote that she doubts in Yuigahama the moment she introduces she is “Yukino’s friend” in LN v4. Haruno would think Yuigahama might like her sister for now, but in the future, she would not like her anymore, and ends up oust her because Yukino is the type that everyone will look at her, and people near her will be ignored. You can imagine how Haruno feels toward Yuigahama if she did that to her sister.
But from Yuigahama’s promise, I feel Haruno still doesn’t trust in her words, but she will remember her promise this time (but I will let imagine how Yuigahama feels when she was caught by Haruno and realizes she is breaking her promise in LN v11). So she will retreat for now. It seems Yuigahama’s answer makes Haruno has no comment about this matter, so she jumps to Hachiman instead and asks him if he understands what she is trying to say.
Does Haruno not praise Hachiman?
ps. This section didn’t happen in anime.
When Haruno asks Hachiman if he understands what she is trying to say, she observes him again like always when he is reviewing this issue. The moment she looks at his eyes, she realizes he understands this issue for real, and even are diving to the darkness, maybe his eyes are darker/rotten than usual. So when she “praises” him along with remark that makes him think she is not praising him after all, I don’t think she doesn’t praise him like he thinks. Because when someone understands what you are trying to say, you would be pleased or even praise that person who reaches the true meaning of the issue you want to convey.
So I don’t see why she is abusive toward him. But again, he misunderstands about her because of her remark that makes people misunderstand so easily. For Haruno, it’s ultra rare to find someone who get what she means. But it’s possible that she hardly vent her feeling to other people. So when there’s someone who can get what she means, she is pleased and satisfied.
“Right, right. I really like those eyes,”
Maybe it’s just me, but I feel Haruno forgets about Yuigahama completely when she is busy observing Hachiman.
Haruno might be the attorney.
Skip to when Haruno slips about the car accident and makes them realize that Yukino knows about the accident back then. I don’t need to analyze about her feeling, you can see she feels guilty because she caused the uncomfortable atmosphere. In LN v4, Hachiman and Yuigahama saw this Limo car but can’t confirm it’s the car of destiny for real (although he knows this car clashed him). So when Haruno tells them in LN v5 that this car has no any scratches, her info confirms their suspicions. However she tries to defend for her sister and even asks Hachiman so he will agree with her only, I think she is afraid they will doubt why Yukino never tell them about this, and end up be negative about her sister instead, so she must do something.
And after she heard his answer, you can see she feels relieved (although you can’t see in anime) and doesn’t continue this conversation more than that. This also confirms my assumption that Haruno doesn’t ridicule or look down on Yukino. She would not defend for her sister if she doesn’t care for her.
Why does Haruno tell Yukino?
In LN v5 c8, Yukino asks Hachiman if he met her sister and after that, she seems want to say something but Hachiman interrupts her. What is something that makes she feels uncomfortable to say it but he knows what she is thinking so he stops her before she can say anything? I guess it’s about she also got involved in the car accident but acts as if she doesn’t.
If I connect the uncomfortable feeling of Yukino when she is going to say something with Hachiman + the guilty feeling of Haruno after told him and Yuigahama unintentionally (about giving them the clue that Limo car is the same car that clashed him before). + Haruno’s excuse for defending Yukino (she also was in the car) but didn’t do anything wrong, you will know that…
- why Yukino feels uncomfortable (if you still don’t get it, you can see the moment Yuigahama was caught by him that she got involved in the car accident but she never tell him, until he knew from his sister, Komachi (I think Komachi and Haruno are the same. They thought Yuigahama/Yukino told him about this already). I am sure Yukino’s feeling is not different from Yuigahama’s feeling when they were caught that they got involved in the car accident.
ps. If you want to know why Yukino never tell both of them about she also got involved in that car accident, you can read in post – ” “Before” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino.” (at link above ↑, like usual).
- why Haruno tells Yukino about her mistake, after she came back home. Actually, if Yukino told Hachiman and Yuigahama about this, Haruno would not feel guilty, guilty that the outsider like her told them there’s another character who also got involved in that incident, and that character is her beloved sister. If Yukino told them, what Haruno did, will not be mistake.
If my assumption about Haruno feels guilty for what she did, is right, I understand why she told her sister about what happened. I think she wants to confess. Confession is the action that makes you feel better and look for the forgiveness, I think this is the reason why she confessed. And another reason is, maybe, just maybe, she wants her sister to know the situation that Hachiman and Yuigahama already knew that she also was in the scene as well. When the new semester begins, Haruno hopes her sister will be ready to confront both of them. However, I don’t know Haruno tells her sister needs to talk with them or not, but I think she lets her sister decides.
The moment Haruno decides to help Yukino.
Although my post this time is TL you might not read, please don’t forget I will explain about Haruno’s determination to help her sister.
- From all clues in LN v1-4 about Yukino’s past and how she feels toward other people around her
- along with all opinions of characters in LN v5
- and also the conversation between Haruno, Hachiman and Yuigahama about her sister and the abnormal relationship of Yukinoshita sisters because of their family.
I think Haruno is the only character who knows about her sister and her dark past very well (not include Hayama), but after Yukino left her and family to live alone, she doesn’t know how her sister is. So after she talked with Hachiman and Yuigahama, who also attend in the same school and have interaction with her sister more than any people she knows, she finally knows what made her shocks and misunderstood, from Yuigahama, her sister never change from before. Yukino’s belief that is twisted because of their family is still remaining.
I mentioned before how Haruno feels when her sister left her behind. She feels lonely. So I assume that she wants her sister come back to her, and they can live together, just like in the past. But the inferior feeling of Yukino will not let her wish comes true. I am sure that Yukino never hate her sister (judge from her reaction toward her sister), but from LN v 8 (anime Zoku ep3, manga -Monologue v7), Haruno is thinking her sister hates her and their family. So this is just my opinion, I think Haruno is misunderstanding about Yukino’s feeling. But it’s reasonable for her to think like that. Because if someone refuses to be with you although you are trying to approach her/him, you would think s/he hates you.
What should Haruno do in order to make her wish (wants Yukino Pan-san back) comes true?
I think she needs to eliminate the cause of the problem first, but the cause of this problem, is their family, especially their mother. Because from what Haruno mentioned before when she is talking with Hachiman, I notice that she is terrified about her mother more than her sister, so the possibility that she will confront/convince her mother to change her mind, to give Yukino the precedence as the equal, is zero (at least for now).
So what should Haruno do?
But I don’t think Haruno will give up just because the cause of the problem is the invincible gund*m. I think although she can’t change the environment inside her family, she at least do something about the environment outside the family, the environment her sister is living, the school. Well, if you read to this point, maybe you realize what and why she is trying to meddle, to be so annoying with people who are younger than her, more than spending time with her friends in the university or concentrate in her own studying. I am sure she wants to cure her sister by giving precedence to her via the events in the school.
There are many events in the school that might cure the inferior feeling of Yukino. If she do something to make her sister have significant role/position, it’s possible Yukino would has self-confidence. And I think Haruno has some confidence to adjust something since she is the alumni of the school, so she can get involved in some events of the school. If Yukino can restore her lost data, her own self-confidence back, Haruno is sure that her sister will not feel inferior toward her anymore. And the reason she leaves from the house will be vanish as well. The ending Haruno wishes will become the reality.
Imagine when Yukino can smile for her again when she is confident in herself and comes back home by her own will.
Imagine how Haruno feels when she gets her sister, the only Pan-san back.
Yeah, that ending.
But I will tell you Haurno is not the good sister who will do anything for her sister only. She is trying hard for her own selfish but understanding wish as well.
What Haruno needs are “time” and “how to”.
I think after she left the firework festival, came back home and confess her mistake earlier to Yukino, it’s not surprising if she will sit in her room and thinking. From LN v5 c5 when Hachiman mentioned there’re two weeks until the school begins, and when the school event next to the summer vacation, is “the school cultural festival”. I don’t know when, but at least she has more than two weeks until the first chance for her to has reasonable excuse to go to the school and start her secret mission. So during this limit time, maybe it’s just me, but if Haruno doesn’t want her mission fail, she needs to learn any strategies to make her sister has important role in this school cultural festival.
And I will stop writing my analysis to this point. Otsukaresama desu, for myself and you who endures to this point. Meet again in the last phase of this analysis. The next phase will be ” “After” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino.”. Every missions have some obstacles.
What obstacles do Haruno need to go through in order to achieve her goal?
Will her mission be successful or not?
Is this the short term or long term mission?
What happened to her mission?
Haruno’s feeling after she realizes Yukino has self-confidence.
Other things that will make the next analysis is too long like usual.
