This part will explain what the operation Fire Doughnut of Yukinoshita Haruno (雪ノ下 陽乃) is. Why does she volunteer to call Hayama Hayato (葉山 隼人) and arrange him and those girls hang out together? What does she want from him? Does she just mess around? This Yahari analysis will provide the answer for you. And “some unbelievable truths” you never read somewhere before.

In this part, after Haruno took heavy damage by ice magic, Absolute Zero from Orimoto, she decided that Orimoto is in her blacklist who should be blown away from Hachiman (or both of them that are Haruno and him) immediately. And if these girls want to meet that popular guy, she just answers their expectation, for her own satisfaction.

Even Haruno is utterly mystified.

In the previous part, I assumed Haruno right now would be jealous because of the truth she heard from Orimoto. I saw she is jealous when she met Hachiman and Yuigahama Yui (由比ヶ浜 結衣) during the firework festival (anime ss1 ep 9) but she confirmed silently from their reactions that that is not a date. However, this time is different, WW tried his best to hide her emotion but her jealous feeling is another level compares to that time. So what should she do?

Hayama Hayato Is The Answer.

Orimoto asked Hachiman if he knows about Hayama-kun or not. She said her friend wants to meet him. However, Hachiman couldn’t do that so he refused. After that, he heard Haruno’s whisper who was blending into the background. She whispered that this might be interesting. He is confused and turns to her, her eyes lit up with a suspicious glow…

Haruno is blending to the background so she can listen to their conversation. After she heard that they want to meet Hayama, she started to plan something that will answer their expectation. But actually, she was calling Hayama to answer her own scheme.

I assume that Haruno is planning to blow people she hates away for her own self-satisfaction and for her own peace of mind because I consider the body language (that is her eyes), her feeling toward Hachiman, and her feeling toward his love story and this girl for the consideration. If I need to explain shortly, she is planning to use Hayama to blow Orimoto away and use Orimoto and her friend to burn Hayama, got it?

• Blow Orimoto away for her own self-satisfaction and peace of mind, blow her away from herself or herself and Hachiman.
• Blow Hayama away for another self-satisfaction, blow him away to hurt his feeling. (??)

You might doubt if I am analyzing Haruno in Oregairu story. Does that perfect Yukinoshita Haruno do something for these reasons? These theories are unreasonable if I just say it without any clues. So I will explain about them definitely. For now, I guess she smiles to Hachiman so he will not know her objective.

Agility & Defence are her advantages!

Haruno suddenly raises her hand and announces she will introduce Orimoto’s friend to Hayato. Hachiman and Orimoto are wondering what she is saying so suddenly.

Let Onee-san introduces him to you.

Haruno takes out her cellphone so quickly and calls to Hayato. After 3 rings, she tells him to come now and says what she wants to say and hung up quickly. Wow, it seems she is confident he will come, she didn’t wait for his answer. Hachiman asks her what she is doing but she just sends him a big bright smile. After he saw her expression, he thinks she is enjoying too much.

I read comments in many sites about why Haruno went through the trouble to call Hayato and introduce Orimoto’s friend to him. Hachiman and some people comment that she just is having way too much fun and I too, thought the same. Yeah, why not? I was confused why she does this and I should agree with Hachiman’s comment, don’t I?

Agility

However, right now I don’t think she will do everything and so quickly just for fun but no any meaning. She heard Orimoto’s friend wants to see Hayato and Haruno knew he can solve her unease feeling (or should I say, wipe out her unease feeling). He is a good chance so that’s why she took out her cellphone and summoned him. She does this and that so quickly because the chance will vanish soon if she doesn’t hurry. (??)

When I wrote Haruno’s chance will vanish soon if she didn’t hurry. I have my own reasons. I guess that time is evening and Haruno would calculate what Hayato is doing right now and where he should be. Like Orimoto said, he is in the soccer club so daily training during after school is normal. Haruno would know his schedule too so she knows she needs to call him as fast as possible, or else he would go back home and her chance will disappear like that if she doesn’t summon him quickly. Her agility is so high so it’s no problem~ But her behavior also reflects how much her discontent within her mind to the point she picked her phone to call him immediately at the second she heard Orimoto and co. want to meet Hayama, who she also hates. The equation is to match people she hates so the certain girl will go away from her (Haruno) comfort zone and another one will taste her punishment soon. Do you see how she can think all of these within 1 minute? Or I should say, how a certain author spent so much time to design Haruno’s plan.

How can I miss this chance?

DEFENSE

After Haruno’s agility works well, next is her defense. After she called Hayama, she knows everyone around her are confused what she is doing, and one of them is Hachiman. I can see he doesn’t understand why she needs to call Hayama. So in order to hide her objective, her cheerful mask was activated again or should I say, Anti-spyware software! with her “brighto” mask, it can hide her true intention, just like anti-spyware deletes all spyware in one click. I can’t underestimate her defense at all.

The one and only secret agent of Haruno

After Haruno called Hayama, she and everyone are waiting for him. Later, she hears somebody is climbing up the stairs in the store. She twists her body and looks at the direction of stairs. He comes for real!

At this point, I think Haruno knows well that he will rush to this cafe because…

• she didn’t explain why she needs him to come.
• and her tones didn’t show that this is an emergency either.

Haruno can summon Hayama to come to doughnut cafe although he would be tired from club activities. It’s like he is another ultra-rare card. At least I can tell you that Haruno didn’t call him to has some fun or wants to mess up but he will be her secret agent who will complete the mission for her.

And he will be the sacrifice for her own self-satisfaction at the same time.

To tell you the truth, I’m the one who surprised about Hayama more than Haruno. I mean, he hurried to doughnut shop as Haruno’s command although she didn’t tell any specific detail and he would be tired from his club activities. If I am him, I might not go to that place or if I need to go because the one who calls me is like my Onee-san, I would not hurry like he did. So that’s why I suspect that it is because his “Y” is… and wrote an analysis about it.

To sum it up, I feel that Haruno knows that Hayama will come to the cafe so it means that she would understand him well that he will not refuse her request. This issue is interesting.

How Hayama Falls Into Haruno’s Trap.

Haruno spreads her hands to Orimoto and her friend and tells Hayama that they want to be introduced to him. After that, they begin to chat together (except Hachiman). Orimoto and Nakasomething suggest going have some fun somewhere. Haruno crosses her arms and supports their ideas in a serious manner. She says they all should go have fun. After Orimoto and her friend heard Haruno supported them, they are more excited and discusses suitable places for them to have some fun.

How about this?

We can see that Haruno supports this idea seriously. If you read my assumption earlier, you will know she doesn’t intend to support their idea for their sake. I can say she lures Hayama to blow Orimoto away via this “have fun together”. So I suspect Haruno knows from the beginning that those girls will have an idea to have fun together with this popular guy, Hayama or if they will not bring this idea to this discussion, I think she will be the one who will suggest it with her cheerful action! Because I don’t know why she called him just to meet them and just that or if she is the good onee-san? So if she calls him to come as Nakasomething’s expectation, Haruno is sure he has no choice but go with them, do as everyone wants.

Note: When Haruno said they all should go have fun. Hachiman is worried a little he should not go together with them. But he should not worried because Haruno has no intention to include him to this group from the beginning. She wants Hayato, Nakasomething, and Orimoto to have fun somewhere… (or should I say, she wants to blow Orimoto away from her and Hachiman by sacrificing Hayama).

However, You might disagree with me because Hachiman ends up to be the part of the double date in part 4. I can say for now it’s not “her intention” to include him. The real culprit is Hayama who wants Hachiman to go double date with him. To do so, he lur- umm makes Haruno to forc- umm convince Hachiman to that date. But this is not BL definitely. Things happen and change the situation after this. I decided to explain everything I discovered so if you read every parts, you will get the answers. But I will not swear I will write everything since there are too many things/factors happen in LN v8.

Dispel darkness away.

Haruno: I will have 5 donuts!     Hayato: Me too.     Hachiman: …How can they eat that much?

And then, it’s time to leave. Orimoto and Nakasomething say goodbye and leave from the shop. So this is how Haruno uses Hayama to blow Orimoto away from her and a boy who confessed to her. And her operation is 80% successful. The remainder in this operation that I need to explain is how she uses Orimoto and Nakamachi to blow him away that “it began already” since he arrived this cafe and went along with these three girls.

However, we need to remember that Hayama would know that she used him to hang out with those girls so he is upset. After two girls disappeared completely,.. Haruno was glared… by Hayato, he asks her why she did something like that. She answers with smiled without a hint of shyness that It looked like it’d be fun. This reaction is how to ease his understandable moodiness. After he saw her reaction, he “sighs” that is the sign that he gives up to make her explain by herself. I think it is difficult for him (and most people) to deal with someone who knows how to dispel resentment of others, especially Hayama who comes to her side as soon as she called him.

And please don’t believe in her words 100%. When she says it looks like it’d be fun, it means no normal fun in her head. …Or is this normal fun? Readers/watchers might see her as the enigma but after I discovered her feelings, she is not different from other girls. That’s why it’s normal fun. Anyway, I can tell you that it is not just fun, there are her negative emotions and thoughts that brought her to do this. She just brings Hayama to be the sacrifice in order to blow Orimoto away. Of course, using him to blow that girl away is not the one reason. I will explain another reason later. But I will analyze something first.

Damn it! …How can I resist this smile?

Nameless and Hiding The Truth From Hachiman.

Hayama asks Haruno again why Hachiman is here. She tells him “the girl one with the perm” was someone Hachiman liked a long time ago. She wonders how her sister will feel if she knows about this. Moreover, she asks this question to Hachiman instead and sends him a smile.

I’m just interested, nothing more than that!

Just a few speeches of her made me notice three interesting notices. So I highlighted three suspicious texts above. Let’s see why…

Nameless

The first thing I want you to notice. Haruno is similar to Hayama who shows her unfriendly attitude via calling names. There are characters who she “changes” or avoid to call their names.

Yuigahama’s case

You can see when Haruno calls Yui’s name, she changed Yui’s name as “Gahama-chan”. She can call other people’s name correctly. (such as Komachi, Hiratsuka-sensei, Hachiman, Meguri and Iroha). But in the case of Yuigahama, she just cut “Yui” from her surname. I don’t know I’m right or not, but this is Haruno’s way to deny a girl who named “Yui”. She doesn’t even want to call this girl’s name.

This might be oot but not quite. I don’t know if Yuigahama knows about this or not, but I think she is a smart girl and has good sense when it comes to people in society. Therefore, I can see her feels unease a bit when Haruno is near her. Maybe it is because she can sense that Yukinon’s older sister didn’t like her since this big sis approaches her crush but she pulled him away from Haruno and said as if Hachiman didn’t like her (Haruno) action but she was the one who disliked her approach to her (Yuigahama) crush.

TL: Um… Hikky I doesn’t like that!

But Yuigahama’s social skill is high so she still maintains her attitude, talks with her although her feeling toward Haruno is another thing. The same kind of people usually understand each other so I think Haruno is the same, talks with her friendly although her feeling toward this girl is another. That’s why I need to explain why Haruno cuts Yuigahama’s name.

The space between Yukinoshita sisters.

The reason she intended to change Yuigahama’s name, I guess because when she saw Yuigahama for the first time (LN v4, anime ss1 ep 8, manga monologue v4), I will not say about this much but she suspects Yuigahama might have the feeling toward Hachiman (or should I say, she might be her l*** rival. And in v5, Haruno’s feeling toward Yuigahama is the same) or else she would not look at Yuigahama like that.

Sagami’s case

For Sagami Minami (相模 南)‘s case, Haruno’s unfriendly attitude is in the upper level. She was not interested to call her correct name and was sarcastic to Sagami as well. (Somethinggami-chan, Amagami, and Chairwoman-chan) Chairwoman-chan might be good to hear for Sagami but I don’t think Haruno called her like that because she saw her as the chair, “chan” after chairwoman is the sign that reflects how Haruno didn’t respect her as that position. In Haruno’s opinion, I think the first nickname, somethinggami-chan is the alias Haruno wanted to call Sagami that showed how Haruno wanted to say something rude to Sagami but she needs to act as she was trying to think the names to confuse Sagami so she can hide her true feeling (she dislikes her) from Sagami so Amagami and Chairwoman-chan were used to that purpose but chairwoman-chan is not the name you will use to someone who you respect. When people are confused, they can be angry at you. And if I am not wrong, Haruno never calls Sagami as “Sagami-chan” or the chairwoman in the whole story.

Eh? Really?

 Orimoto’s case

For Orimoto’s case, it’s a different level more than Yui’s and Sagami’s cases. Haruno had no intention to call her name at all. But the different thing between her and two girls above is this girl didn’t do anything wrong. Rejecting Hachiman’s feeling is not wrong while those two girls above did something “wrong” to Haruno. When she said the girl one with the perm” was someone Hachiman liked a long time ago. She should say “Orimoto” too but she never did that and she never calls her name even once. Maybe this is just my imagination but when I saw Yui and Sagami’s cases, I don’t think she didn’t call Orimoto’s name because she has no chance to call her name. If you already read my part 2 (link is above), you would realize why Haruno refuses to call Orimoto’s name but never alter her name either.

Hiding The Truth From Hachiman.

I think Haruno would hide her intention like usual but she doesn’t mind if Hayama will know because her answer is like the explanation that explains everything (her reason why she did this) to him. If you continue to read this post, I will explain why she doesn’t mind. But don’t forget there is another guy who is sitting there. In the case of Hachiman, it is different. I guess Haruno doesn’t want Hachiman to know her true intention. To explain why she tries to hide it from him, I think he is one of the main factors that made her do all of these, …because Orimoto told her that he confessed his feeling to her that is what Haruno feels … like that and can’t accept this until she decided to match this girl to go with the one she hates. And it is hard to believe this but yes, I am meaning this Haruno.

Hot enough?

For hiding the truth from him, she uses the word she uses regularly, “Yukino” to hide her intention and to bend Hachiman’s attention to her little sister instead like this. ⇓

“That’s not true! That girl, ah, the one with the perm I mean. That girl was someone Hikigaya-kun liked a long time ago apparently! Isn’t that really interesting? I wonder what kind of face Yukino-chan would make if she knew about this, hmmm… Right, Hikigaya-kun?”

This highlight speech is added for these reasons. If she just says without this speech, it is possible that he will suspect her that is what she wants to avoid. Yes, Haruno wants to hide the truth from him. Is it impossible for humans to reveal their desires that they know well that those desires are unpleasant in people’ eyes? I saw that every month in the real world. If you look from her point of view or be Haruno, there are two boys in her vision. She is explaining her reason to Hayama while is trying to hide the truth from Hachiman. That’s why I will divide her words to two sections.

 

Her explanation to Hayama:
“That’s not true! That girl, ah, the one with the perm I mean. That girl was someone Hikigaya-kun liked a long time ago apparently! Isn’t that really interesting?

Her attempt to hide the truth from Hachiman (& readers/watchers):
I wonder what kind of face Yukino-chan would make if she knew about this, hmmm… Right, Hikigaya-kun?”

 

Even the small signs such as her turning her head to Hachiman and asking him are the actions to make the one who is asked turn away. Turning away means she wants Hachiman to stop to be interested in her objective. And she knows how he will respond if she did these.

This is why I conclude that she doesn’t mind to let Hayama know her reason while she doesn’t want Hachiman to know her reason. I recommend you to remember this short conclusion first so you can follow their feelings, especially Haruno since this is the analysis of her. Remembering this will help you understand why she tells her reason to Hayama. Because after this point is the explanation another reason why she lured him to this date.

Other examples that show Haruno uses the word, “Yukino” to hide her true intention from other(s) appear in LN v4 & 8. In LN v8, you would read how she uses this word in Operation Fire Doughnut Part 1 already.

Encourage soldier before proceeds to the red zone.

Haruno stands and taps Hayato on the shoulders.  She says…

“Well, anyway, why don’t you go hang out with them? It might actually turn out to be pretty fun and go well for you.”

Maybe you don’t know yet, but this is the important moment of Hayato and Haruno (surely Hachiman didn’t know about the true meaning of Haruno’s remark) that didn’t appear in anime and manga -Monologue-. The true meaning of this remark of Haruno is…

She rejected Hayato indirectly but surely.

You might believe me, and that is understandable. But his reaction tells me how he is feeling after she said like that. After she spoke, his shoulders drop. He tries to refuse but she takes his words lightly. Although I wrote earlier that she told why she made him join the date with those girls, her remark this time tell him everything. I am sure that she knows he has a feeling for her or else she would not say as the red words above.

Haruno suggests Hayato to go hang out with two girls, she thinks he might have fun with them too and she means one of the girls might be his girlfriend as well. Maybe this is her goodwill but I don’t think she wishes him well. I think Haruno knows how Hayato will feel if she said like that.

Because of her action and words above, I don’t doubt that she would know Hayato’s feeling for “Y” but she doesn’t care he will suffer at all. She matched Hayato with two girls (or Orimoto only) so they can have fun together and leave her and the one she is fond of alone.

…Hayato, she will never forget your sacrifice. (Salute!)

The TRUTH(s) Behind Hayato’s Sacrifice For Hachiman (Part 1)

Hayama feels depressed after heard Haruno’s answer because he finally knows why she lures him to this doughnut cafe. I already wrote the analysis in his point of view, there you can read his feeling after he felt in her trap. This post is like the mirror of Haruno’s operation part 3 or this page. How his hope reverses to despair.

If you read Haruno’s operation Part 2, you would know her feeling toward Orimoto. So eliminating a boy who she hates by using the girl who she hates, will satisfy her.

I can feel that Haruno doesn’t care about Hayato (look from her different reaction (that is different from her reaction when she saw Hachiman) after she saw Hayato & he tried to step in beside Hachiman to stop her to approach that guy, and the atmosphere between both of them when they saw each other that Hachiman can sense it during the School Cultural Festival in LN v6). And this time too, interpreting their feelings is a bit difficult. She doesn’t listen to him when he is trying to say it’s no way, I notice she has no intention to consider his feeling at all. And when I look at her plan to set up this date, I assume that she would plan this because of what he did to her little sister in the past that is destroying her (Haruno) automatically. (??) Why do I think like this? Because everything has its own factor. And I will reveal this to you later, somewhere, some post. I think I would reveal this in “the conclusion of Haruno’s operation & the truth(s) behind Hayato’s sacrifice (the last part)”.

What is Haruno aiming for this dating group (If I set the bar so high)?

If I set the bar sooooo high, I will think that Haruno expects Hayato to see the calamity in the future, after she rejected him here. And she expects Orimoto to get more problem soon.

Haruno plans to burn Hayato and those girls (especially him and Orimoto) by setting this trap in the double date. And do you still remember Yukino got bullied by other elementary girls and she ended up hating Hayato? She and he would not be a couple (elementary) but it is not surprising if they are close friends, and other girls can’t stand that scene (those two are too close) so Yukino is their targets.

I don’t know what really happened back then, but the result is Yukino hates Hayato and went to study abroad. Haruno, who cares for her sister, couldn’t accept this too. And I am sure she would know what happened in this tragedy from Yukino’s condition or Hayato. So when I see her hatred (look from this scene in LN v8), I can feel she hates Hayato so much, from the bottom of her heart. And I think she has her own reason to hate someone. Because why does she hate him if he doesn’t do anything wrong, does she? So when I look from her operation to burn him and those girls with the date, I think she wishes him to fall to hell because of “girls and the gang”, the similar tragedy that ever happened to her sister.

Like this (no Hachiman in this group), people who saw them, can misunderstand and cause rumor.

If Hayato goes to date with other girls, other students in Zobu will see them (such as Miura, Ebina, Tobe, and Isshiki). He and those girls will get trouble if this will cause the rumor in their school. Not only Zobu but Orimoto’s school too (I forgot its name).

What might happen to Orimoto and Nakasomething.

1. Other girls and the gang who are super jealous and might set the bullying game to Orimoto and Nakasomething.
2. Or the “rumor” will spread in both schools, I know Nakasomething just wants to go have fun with this cool guy. But from other people’s point of view, they can misunderstand and makes the gossip worse. When people gossip about the rumor, the rumor can change into the worse rumor. They can’t ask those girls directly, but nothing will stop them from gossip. So if Orimoto and Nakasomething are the topics of this rumor, can you imagine if they will feel? In the beginning, they might be confused but pleased because they get the attention but I don’t know how they will answer if someone asks them about the sensitive question such as their relationship since Hayato never hung out with any girl before. Every answer both girls said will be seasoned in the future by others.
3. If 2) happens, Orimoto and Nakasomething will get more trouble in case the rumor is worse because the teacher will call them to ask what really happened. Although they might try to explain to teachers, how can they prove this?
4. If 1) & 2) don’t happen, 3) might not happen either. But I am sure the normal rumor will make Orimoto and Nakasomething get some trouble since they will be the center of the spotlight. It’s up to social’s mercy.

But if this bullying game or the worst rumor happens, “Haruno’s love rival”, will be burned to ash.

What might happen to Hayato?

Since Hayato went to have fun with two girls, “the rumor” might happen in Sobu (I’m not sure the rumor will be bad like this or not, but he can’t avoid the rumor since some people will see them are together). The experience in LN v10 makes me understand that if he is with a girl, even there are other people too, people will see only what they want to see. Since he is the most popular guy, some people might be surprised but amazing in what he did. However, this ultra-rare rumor will spread quickly. It will not be surprising if every student will be interested. That perfect boy who never hung out with any girls hung out with unknown girls. It’s up to social who will design the rumor to be normal or worse.

If the rumor happens, the peaceful life of Hayato will end. Why? His AT-field (Miura) would not stand this (since she and Ebina saw them).

If Miura can maintain herself, it is good. But if it’s not? So what’s next is when he is not covered by AT-field, almost every girl will think they can have the chance to be close to him (just like when some girls try to confess love to him since the rumor between him and Yukino spread). Some girls might think he and those girls might be not like they are worried and the good news that Orimoto and Nakasomething are students from another school, so they should have better chance to win his heart. The Hayato war begins!! So almost every girl will participate in this war to win this handsome boy’s heart who has no girlfriend yet. And he can’t expect AT-field from Miura. Every day in school can be the endless loop for him that we can see in v10.

That’s not enough. If Tobe, Yamato, and Ooka were not considered by girls because they want Hayato only, do you think what will happen next? Those Yamato and Ooka might feel sympathy for him but it might change to jealous/inferior to him (similar what Haruno told Hachiman and Yui about Yukino’s friend abandoned her). Since Hayato is friendly, he would not face the same experience with Yukino’s. They would maintain the relationship with him but who knows? The unpleasant feeling might remain inside their hearts, except Tobe who falls in love with Ebina who is not interested in Hayato at the beginning.

He will be “the popular loner”, and that position is what he is scared the most. He tries to be nice so everyone will not harm him but with Haruno’s operation, that tragedy would be possible. Except he can wipe out the rumor by using other girls as he did in v10. If he can do that, the damage from the rumor will end but the truth that the rumor gave him some trouble is not impossible.

This is the origin of Haruno’s ultimate noble pha magic, Fire Tornado. (since her name means the sun, maybe she has fire element.)?

I wrote those two assumptions above to test the possibility. Writing them so I can compare which one is the most possible. It’s better than falling into the whirlpool of confusion. It’s good I can find out my own conclusion.

What is Haruno aiming for this dating group (If I set the bar lower)? (Update again!)

Above is the worst circumstance Haruno might expect Hayato will face it in the future if he goes to the group date with those girls. But it’s still too realistic to happen at the same time, because if you already read LN v8 or anime Zoku ep 4, manga -Monologue- v8, whatever that she was expecting after the donut cafe, didn’t come true already because Hayato used this date for his own objectives. So her intention for this dating group is still mysterious. However, if I rethink that

• One thing I am sure about her objectives, I notice she used this chance to push Orimoto (the one Hachiman (who Haruno is looking for) ever confessed) to Hayato for her self-satisfaction. Imagine when she matched “two people who she hates [Hayato & Orimoto]” and drove them somewhere far away.
• If her hatred to burn Hayato is not the calamity like I mentioned above, but just let him know her true feeling toward him?
• Or/and if she didn’t expect Orimoto to get more trouble because of the rumor I mentioned earlier, but for something that is easy to understand for Hayato and Haruno?

I will say that her hatred toward him because of the certain incident that her sister suffered because he didn’t help her, during late elementary school period is something that I must consider why Haruno hates him so much. Yukino’s cataclysm is Haruno’s cataclysm. Because it’s no way she will hate him without any reason, hate him because she just wants to hate him is not something I will believe.

If she who took care of him since childhood and she seems to like him as Onee-chan and little brother, but changed her mind and hates him instead, there is must be an incident that made her can’t like him anymore, and that incident must happen in their past. And the incident between Haruno, Hayato, and Yukino is the only one (I think you know what that incident is). Maybe he was the main cause of that incident and Haruno can’t forgive him (and even herself – in case Yukino asked her for help too) because he had run away from the situation by doing things mid-way for her sister.

But that is just the case of Hayato was the only one who Yukino or Haruno asked him for help. But if I consider it’s possible that Yukino might ask her older sister too (who was another close one and she always depended on her), and if Haruno who always answered Yukino’s expectations, couldn’t help her from the situation? Do you think their relationship will be crumbled or not? This can explain how Yukino acts like that to her older sister every time they meet in Oregairu story. When we watched their present relationship, I think, yes, their relationship is not close like in the past. So the next question is…

No One Could Save Yukino.

If their relationship was ruined because no one could save her little sister, and the one who could do that the most, ran away, how does Haruno feel toward herself and him?

Actually, I got a new clue from her words in a certain ∨n, that clue is not clear and I have no solid evidence to confirm that clue is reliable or not. But because it’s not clear because it’s a random hint and because WW’s style makes me trust unclear clues. Anything that is so clear, is not a reliable clue in Oregairu. And that clue from Haruno is…

Haruno: You can’t forgive yourself and others to run away.
(I can’t remember every word and which ch, sorry. But I remember this is her word when she is talking with Hachiman in some cafe.)

…Why me?

If I use this clue to analyze their tragedy, I assume that Haruno was another one who got involved with that incident too although she would be the middle school student at that time… Although I can’t confirm yet that “the incident” is bullying in the school or problem within the family, but if WW tries his maximum super supreme gigantic best to hide the bullying in the school until now, I will bet that the incident is about a problem within the family (I think each Yukinoshita sisters and Hayato would think the other two were like the family) and the school. So my assumption is like this.

Yukino asked her big sister for help too. But she couldn’t answer her expectations, so their sibling relationship was shattered because Yukino’s objective to rely on Haruno ended (the same case when Hachiman can’t answer Yukino’s expectation to save her from her mom in LN v11).

The reasons her little sister studied abroad would not happen because of this reason only but other factors as well but one of the reasons is Yukino couldn’t trust her sister and Hayato anymore since the incident proved to her that they couldn’t reliable when the disaster reached her. The truth about “her family” and the flame from the bullying made her need to escape to study at another place far away.
That is one of the reasons Haruno is always alone and “scared” when her little sister asks her for help with the same speech with “that time” again during the festival that caused her to “activate cold aura” to prevent Yukino from “asking help from her”. You might not believe that Haruno, that Haruno is scared when Yukino said “Nee-san, help me.” so you should check this fact in v6.

although she is not like that.

but she is not interested (yet).

And that is the reason Hayato was hated by Yukinoshita siblings despite he loves the older sister…

If I TL Haruno’s words in νn…

Haruno: You can’t forgive yourself and others to run away.
TL:
Haruno: I can’t forgive myself and others (I am not sure if she means Yukino too or not but at least Hayato is in this equation) who ran away.

The result Haruno wants.

So to this point, Haruno who hates Orimoto because she was the one who Hachiman confessed his feeling, heard from her that her friends want to meet Hayato, the one who she hates the most, the hatred feeling in her mind because of what Orimoto said proudly previously (you would know what I mean) drives her to call him to come as Orimoto’s friend wishes. And she just sticks them together so they can “have fun”, so they will get away from her (and even Hachiman). Prepare the yacht for them and say goodbye to them to be happy together.

When Hayato asked her why she did this, she answered indirectly because she used “Yukino-chan” to block Hachiman so he will not understand and but her answer still contains the hint that made him feels gloomy (because Orimoto is the one who Hachiman ever confessed to, so she decided to stick that girl with Hayato so they will go away from her and Hachiman). Her doing to get rid of the one she is envy is understandable and will make her satisfied. I assume that she uses him because she can pierce the javelin to Hayato at the same time because the damage he did to her still remains until this day. The factor will lead to another factor.

What will happen to Orimoto?

If I set the bar lower, I think Haruno just wants to get rid of the existence of this girl who got what she (Haruno) wants (was confessed by Hachiman) to comfort her only. So whatever that might happen to Orimoto if she and her friends have fun with Hayato, is not what Haruno will calculate anymore.

What will happen to Hayato?

If I set the bar lower, I explained how he is feeling after she rejected him there already. So I will let you imagine how he is feeling if the person he has feeling for, rejected him and doesn’t care who he “will have fun” with. Of course, the nightmare he will meet in the future if he will go with those girls is still possible since he is the popular guy who never hung out with only girl(s) before. But I don’t know Haruno is expecting him to have “more problems” after that date or not, but it’s possible that she just wants to push him along with that girl because of her own burning emotion and because of that burning emotion or not I can’t confirm anymore, but she is pleased to make the one who destroyed her, suffer.

ps. If you didn’t read LN v8 yet, it’s no way you can see the scene when Haruno rejects Hayato. The scene in manga -Monologue- was cut but some scene still remains. In anime Zoku ep3, there’re no scenes about this.

When I consider the two possibilities (set bar high or low), I think the possibility when I set the bar lower is more reasonable. Because I don’t believe she will drag Nakasomething to get the trouble too. And the burning emotion of Haruno is the main factor while the hatred toward Hayato is the product she can harvest by seeing him suffer. His suffering is like the opportunity (because she heard Orimoto’s friend want to see him) and that would satisfy her enough because she hurt him three times, set the trap for him to be with the former crush of Hachiman despite he thought she needs him so he rushed to this cafe, convince him to go have fun with those girls and pray he might get a girlfriend, and approach the one she is fond of “in front of” him… I can count 4 times if I include “turns her head and waves her hand to Hachiman in front of Hayato” too although it also is possible she doesn’t do that to hurt Hayato but it’s just her respond for the person she is looking for only. That is why I believe that she got happy points enough and didn’t expect the long-term result. I don’t believe her jealous and hatred will direct her to the point I set the bar so high.

The one who she is fond of?

Look at her sight.

Haruno watches her silver wrist watch and announces it’s time to leave. She collects her belongings as she says with high speed. She shuffles over to Hachiman and whispers, thank you for hanging out with her, in his ear.

He can’t stand because his ears are sensitive so he takes 2-3 steps back from her, at that moment, she dashes to the stairs quickly. She turns her head and waves her hands to his direction.

…It seems the way Haruno reacts to Hachiman and Hayato are totally different. You can see clearly how different when she treats Hachiman, compare with how she treats Hayama. With this operation, she throws Hayama away along with Orimoto, while she didn’t do anything bad to a certain person after all.

But this is not the first time Haruno showed how different she treats between Hachiman and Hayama. If you ask me about the first time she showed her feeling toward these boys, that time is the School Cultural Festival period. That scene didn’t show in anime and manga -Monologue- so if you see those mediums only, you will not find this interesting scene of these three characters. If you want to see this scene, you can explore in LN v6, but if you already read but still don’t get it, I recommend this Oregairu Analysis – “After” Yukinoshita Haruno Decides to Help Yukino. When she stands up to leave from the shop, I suspect she looks at Hachiman because he is her accomplishment or how he is the one she is looking for. Why do I think like this? Because with my analyses from part 1-until now, The operation fire doughnut I titled is how she did things with burning emotion (envy).

Don’t worry, Hachiman. Haruno doesn’t mean you when she asks to let her know any progress. He thought she asks info from him. But don’t forget there’s another person who is near him too.

Her goodbye tells us how Haruno does not care about Hayato’s feeling.

Haruno says to Hachiman’s direction if there is any progress, let her know too. Hachiman thinks she was talking to him but he doesn’t think he will go with them. However, he still nods to Haruno as she leaves.

When she says this, I suspect she doesn’t say to Hachiman but since she doesn’t call Hachiman or Hayato’s name, it makes Hachiman misunderstands that she says to him. So I assume that she says this to Hayato. I suspect Haruno is so sarcastic to Hayato until the last minute. Don’t forget she stabs him the three despairs ( 1) when he knows she sets the trap. 2.) when she tells him the reason. 3) when she gives him sarcastic encouragement. 4) when she approaches to Hachiman in front of him, or I should say “Fire Dagger” since the monster in her stomach like now is the fire monster. This time, she doesn’t forget to throw the last Fire Dagger long distance to him by saying goodbye like that. It’s like the last jab, not powerful but accurate. “Any progress” she mentions is the progress between Hayato and the girl she pushed to him, Orimoto. Personally, I don’t think Haruno is serious, she just acts as if she is an Onee-san who wishes well for her little brother despite the truth she matched them together to make him suffer. This also reflects how she is not interested in his feeling toward her. OK. I got it. I got how much her hatred toward him.

ps. And still, Hachiman doesn’t know what happened.

So what’s on Hayato’s mind?

If you read to this point, you might be curious if my assumptions are correct for real. I can understand if you wonder, so I wrote the truths behind Hayama Hayato’s sacrifice for Hachiman (part 1) that focuses on what happens in the doughnut cafe via Hayato’s pov. Writing the analysis via his pov is the good starting point so we can understand his thoughts because they connect with “his plan after that”, that is all he will do during the double date. This event is the most complex drama I ever saw in my life. That’s why writing the analysis with his pov is the result. In this part 1 will start when Hayato receives a call from Haruno to come to the doughnut cafe. You can find out his thoughts & feelings when he got this call until he tells Hachiman about her after she left the cafe. His thoughts and feelings after Haruno’s actions are his important motivation to “modify” this date for his own show. I hope these two analyses might help you reach the truth. The purposes of operation fire doughnut

The purposes are based on Haruno’s desire. Moreover, the quote from Hayato after Haruno left from doughnut shop can give us some valuable hints. He said…

…Why not me?

“If she doesn’t have any interest in something, she wouldn’t act so cheeky like that… She wouldn’t do anything. She’ll meddle so much with what she likes (Hachiman) to the point of killing it. For the things she hates (himself), she’d go the extra mile to crush them (him).”

Hayama’s quote confirms my assumption about how different when Haruno treats Hachiman and Hayama. And I think you can see how Haruno went the extra mile to crush him.

Will Hachiman be involved with her operation or not?

• Nope. Haruno will not invite Hachiman to go hang out with them. If she wants him to go with this group, she would do something to pull him into this group in the first place. And as my [two assumptions] why Haruno did this, Hachiman might be related to her motivation to do this, but she wants to crush Hayato’s mind and use Orimoto for that and to get rid of them at the same time. So I don’t see why Hachiman becomes the victim of her hatred since he didn’t get the mental damage from her action.
• Moreover, Haruno didn’t see why Hachiman needs to go with them. She would not want to see him hangs out together with Orimoto, right?
• But later, we will know Hachiman ends up in this double date too, right? I can say Haruno forces him to go with Hayama’s group because Hayama can make her feels curious. You can read part 4 for more info.

Who is Haruno’s loyal subordinate who answered her expectation (or his own expectation)?

If I believe that her objective to call Hayato to have fun with those girls because of the short-term results, that are pushing Orimoto away to Hayato, and going the extra mile to crush him along the way, I think her operation ends at this point, in the doughnut cafe.

Despite everything she planned, ended, it appears that she decides to call Hachiman and invites him to go to the date group. Why did she change her mind and include him to that group? And who changed her mind? You will know all the answers in part 4. That moment or my part 4 is the moment when Haruno and Hachiman fall into someone’s trap, this is what I can tell you for now.
